SLUGS in THE HOUSE - UUURRRGGGHH (merged threads)

Can anyone tell me how I stop these little beasts getting into my house. I have looked everywhere and can't see how they are getting in but I guess they are so slithery they can get through cracks in the wall/door. Anyhoo, I usually see their "trail" in the morning so know that one has been in however this morning I got up in the middle of the night and saw FOUR of them in my kitchen all huddled together. I nearly fainted!!!! I've tried putting salt around the door but to no avail. Any advice out there??? HELP!

  • they somehow got into our front room - we got up one morning last week and there were slime trails all over the carpet. Never had this before in 16 years of living here. Cleaned up the trails and no more have appeared - but haven't found any bodies yet either !!!!

do you have a pet? they can come in on the coat.
i have the same problem but with woodlice!
  • Best cure I have found is to wake in the middle of the night - then you will see the blighters (always in at least pairs!). Scrape them up with a cardboard and place them in a bin and enjoy pouring salt over them. Could alternatively chuck them outside, over your neighbour's wall (no chance of being caught as it's the middle of the night;)
  • actually did just that at 3am, lovely watching them projectile over the hedge!

Thev can get in through tiny gaps under the skirting board.
One way to find out if they are, put a line of salt down...nasty...

We had them in the lounge. Found out they were coming through the patio door frame when we changed it.
  • I don't know how they get in, but i've found a container full of lager to be an effective snail trap, they love it !.

Smails love the smell and taste, they climb and get !!!!ed out of their heads and drown in the beer.
  • We had the same, solution was as malcolm000, got up at 3am (not deliberately after slugs, just wanted a drink), turned on kitchen light, there must have been a dozen of the little beasts, it was gross, cleared them up and problem went away.
  • Sounds a good idea, however, might find boyfriend sharing same tray on Sunday morning!!! LOL
  • we had them in a previous house and they were coming in through the airbrick in the kitchen. we put lots of slug pellets down in and around the airbrick and it seemed to do the trick.

Definately a 10 in the yuk factor!!!
