    too much information
  • they used to get beneath the shirting boards in our front room before we had new flooring fitted and trim to skirting.....spoilt their little midnight runs!!!
They get in anywhere they can, including round the edges of your waste pipes in the kitchen so get everywhere you can sealed!!

My sister once came downstairs to find them in her cereal box which she had left out!!!---- that rates as one of the most disgusting thing I have heard!!!
Moral of the story is: if you know you have a problem with these slimey creatures make sure all your foodstuff is put away!!

WE have this problem in the kitchen. I spent a lot of time looking for gaps and filling it in with mastic etc. I even found a very small 2-3 mm gap between a slate floor and a door frame where one had got through they must be able to squeeze through even the smallest of gaps. I also installed metal sliders on air vents. I am really looking for some very fine mesh though to do the job that has holes about 1mm in size so it can be painted to blend in with the air bricks
  • Ooft, i feel your pain. I had a bluebottle infestation around a month ago (my own stupid effing fault mind you), I'm not the biggest fan of little critters. Although you'd think with my hobby I'd be used to them by now

Good luck getting rid of the slugs x

This time I'm on top of it! We live and learn :coffee:
  • I had some in my bedroom years ago, they were coming in through an airbrick then through floorboards. Not phased by much, but I went to the loo in the night, barefoot, bad move...   I didn't want to block the airbricks & as I had hedgehogs & squirrels in the garden I couldn't use slug pellets. Put a trail of salt over a pile of peashingle in front of each airbrick plus a few saucers of beer away from the house. Seemed to work, though my OH said it was the high pitched screaming & seeing one of them squished on my foot that really kept the rest away...
  • I think I read somewhere that they dont like crossing tin foil - their mucus contains electrolytes, and with the tinfoil an electrical cell is created, and they get small electric shocks as a result.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Hi this may be weird but I'm gonna put it out there and see what happens...

I get slugs coming into my kitchen in the evening (gross I know!) my kitchen is at the front of the house and I live in the town so they aren't coming in the door nor are they making their way from the back right through the lounge, dinning room then hallway.

Please can someone advise me what to do to resolve this issue???

  • DD had this problem. Do you have a drain somewhere near your door, as they live in there and come out at night. She used slug pellets round her door outside (get pet friendly ones) and that did the trick. You could also put caustic soda down the drain to clean it.
If you're feeling really nasty,go out in the dark and sprinkle salt on them, thats what my husband did,but then he was feeling murderous!!! YUK

Can you trace back their slime trails and find where they are comming in? Then put salt across their path and prepare to clear up some gruesome mess in the morning!
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
