    Hiya

I just wondered if I could join your merry band too?

After visiting my doctor a fortnight ago with a problem with my heel, she has encouraged and convinced me to do what I already knew I needed to do - lose weight.

I am not a very confident person so don't like going to groups like WW or SW - I did go to Scottish Slimmers a couple of times over the years and did lose a bit of weight but never felt comfortable at the meetings as, although I knew everyone was there for the same reason, I for some reason always felt very self conscious getting on the scales. I persevered for a few months each time and then gave up with all the weight piling back on with a few extra stone for good measure.

I have been following this thread (and LW14) since I was at the docs and as you all seem a nice friendly group, encouraging each other, I hoped you would let me join in too.

I would like to do the monthly challenge but if I do this - do I also need to do the 2lb a week one too? I have to go to visit the nurse once a month and would rather only go by her scales. (I tried weighing myself at home and within the space of 30 seconds I had put on a pound and then lost another four - so they are not very reliable and I would hate standing on the scales in Boots in case I broke them!!! ).

I know I have got a long way to go and will need encouragement when I fall off the straight and narrow so hope you lovely peeps can help me out.

Edit : Sorry for the long post - how come everyone else can say what they want to get across in a couple of lines and I end up writing an essay!!

    I second that!!

    I think the options were

    Suggs gets a + or - figure
Victory get a total loss figure

But following the KISS method (Keep it Simple) I would go for a total loss, as per the main chart.

    Thanks Delly and Victory x

KISS brilliant:rotfl: :D now we have a solution everyone is happy:D

I have just bought the new Enrique Iglesias cd and inside is a huge photo of him with his famous lip pout, what a hunk, forget the tennis players petrichor GO for pure Spanish hunk;) :D

You are more than welcome, myself and petrichor and maybe some others lack confidence so you are very well understood here, we will all be here to offer you encouragement the whole step of the way, it is a fantastic thread to be on, I know without these lovely people I would not have achieved what my weight loss is now, believe in yourself, be your best friend, make time for yourself, treat your body as a temple, you will reap the rewards:D

Thanks Victory - hopefully I will be as successful as you and some of the others have been
  • Anic 62ibarm.gifand welcome to this lovely thread :T You can join in the monthly challenge, I think the current one is due to end next week, but the 2lb club is really just a name for the chart which inspires us all. We all like to try to lose that amount each week but in a lot of cases that's not possible, so we set mini challenges like the 5lb monthly one. Please don't feel pressured to think that you have to lose these amounts, just take things at your own pace :D Also, you don't have to weigh in once a week, do by all means let yourself be guided by your doctor's scales once a month; we all know how unreliable some scales can be :o We have the lovely beanilou who was/is a member of Scottish Slimmers so she'll be able to help you with stuff that you already know about, but there are some great plans available on the web that can help you and won't cost you a penny. Just find something that will suit YOU. As Victory said, we both have confidence problems but with the help of this thread we have both reached, and passed :j our target. So I wish you luck, and keep posting :j
