  • I'm sorry I do not post on here much, other than to update with my WI.

I have had a good week this week and am proud to say that I have hit the 1st weightloss mark. I am even happier to say that this loss is all down to reading the wonderful contributions of everyone on this thread.

Keep up the good work guys and girls.

Morning people. Tired today, LO didn't sleep any less than usual but my reserves are soooo low after 2 months of wakeful nights!

My new breakfast staple is porridge - quicker than toast and healthier too. I just chuck the oats in a bowl, add some hot water then zap in the microwave. I even add some fruit sometimes if I'm feeling wild and crazy, it's still the fastest brekkie when there's a small and insistent baby awaiting my attention!

I have decided to change to porridge too for breakfast as I feel it definately fills me up a lot more than everything else and does keep me satisfied till lunch time. I do however prefer mine with milk and salt and have decided to wean myself off that gently by making it half milk and half water. I usually just bung it in a pot though but I decided to try it in the microwave this morning like many others do - bad mistake - bunged it in the bowl with the liquids and went into the living room and forgot about it till the micro went ping!!

Lovely mess!! It certainly meant my breakfast had less calories than normal - half of it was all over the turntable.

Lesson learned - use a bigger bowl next time!!
  • Hi Guys,

Hope you're all having a better day than I am. A bad night (wedding anniversary - six years! and 42 points ate yesterday:doh: ) followed by a disorganised morning. I'm lucky in that I only need to claw back 10 points to undo the damage (I'd saved 7 or 8 from during the week). Weigh in is on Monday and I'm a bit late (no, it' s not that! Stuff has to happen for it to be that and it hasn't so it isn't). so I'm not hopeful that my WI on Monday is going to see much of a change.

Sorry if I seem a bit distracted DS is watching the Muppet Show on DVD and I keep stopping to watch. Rober Frost's poems just aren't the same unless they're said to a mariachi (sp) band!:rotfl:

Boy, I think I need to go and get fruit in case I'm attacked by a case of the munchies tonight (I've only got 20 points today and have already eaten 12!).

Right I'm off to the supermarket (If I can tear DS and OH away from the Muppet Show!).
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
  • Hi everybody :D

Well done notanothergreyhair, 1 stone is fabulous :T

Anic, every time I make porridge it seems to go everywhere, so I've just about given up trying!! As far as breakfasts go, I can only really manage a banana or some other soft fruit most days, I'm not a natural breakfast eater, although I know its really important to eat it.

Dellybelly and everyone else who might be struggling a bit this weekend... hang in there!!! I've got the terrible munchies today.. not sure why...and have already eaten all my healthy eating 'a's and 'b's.

I'm off over to a friends later to play Singstar :D for the evening, which is usually accompanied by copious amounts of wine (followed by copious amounts of toast and marmite!) but I'm wondering whether to stay sober and drive home late instead of staying over...Hmmmmmm.... decisions decisions

Well I'm feeling very proud of myself. Maybe I do have willpower after all.

OH's cousin is running a charity "school disco" night next week to raise money for breast cancer. Last year she had a "pink party" and I made up a big jar of pink sweeties for guests to guess how many were in it. Well because it went down so well she asked if I would do another one this year with "tuck shop" type sweeties (this was before she knew I was trying to lose weight) and I agreed.

Well I couldn't remember the size of jar I had and didn't have a clue how many sweets I needed so got a bit carried away at Asda and bought a carrier bag full of all the sweets I used to love when I was at school.

I have filled the jar to the brim and I didn't even eat one tiny little morsel - although I was tempted - I just kept saying "it is for a good cause - if I eat it the jar won't be full". Don't know why that worked because I have about two thirds of the carrier bag left

Luckily No.1 Son just told me he and his mates are off to the pictures tonight - guess what I thrust into his hand to take with him :A

Don't know if it went down too well - not the done thing for a group of 18 years olds to be sitting watching a horro movie with their "kiddies mix".

Task acomplished - jar filled - and the rest of the tempation out of the way

Brightonbelle, you are clearly a woman of discernment when it comes to men. Stewart Ainsworth leads various archeological holidays/weekend breaks and guess what ... he's just the same in real life as he is on the telly. I sat next to him and once even touched his arm ... how cool is that! My first school girl crush, just about XX years too late. My OH is also deeply into matters old and/or archaeological so he had a great weekend too. In fact he talked to SA much more than I did. I talked more to Mrs Stewart. (Yes he's very happily marrried so it all has to stay a warm fuzzy pink dream)

Hi all - it's very quiet on here today, everyone is obviously doing weekend type things :)

Porridge is great for breakfast and I'm planning to get back into it again now that summer is over. I use a large pyrex dish, and give it a stir a couple of times during cooking, which seems to prevent it overflowing. I make it with a cup of oats, 1 cup of skimmed milk and 1.5 cups of water, which makes 2 portions. I like Sainsbury's Taste the Difference porridge, which also has dried fruit and nuts in it.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.
