[quote=Brighton_belle;6451700 ...I was lying in bed last night wondering where your 'name' came from. Got to the point of imaging it was the putting together the first names of yourself,DH and DD: Petunia + Richard + Oriana!
bb[/quote]ajaxgeezer wrote: ».. I suspect you are partly right in that it's a micture of names, however I reckon pet is a nickname she's kept (EDIT: or she may have been named after Petula Clark), and that MrP is indeed Richard
The surname would be O' Rourke, so they are Pet & Richard O'Rourke
...
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Petunia!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I can never hear that name without thinking of the old public information ad on TV on how to contact the coastguard - the stricken man is in his dinghy waving frantically for help and a woman on the beach (Petunia) turns to her husband and say "Oooh look! that man in the sailing dinjy's waving to us - cooooeeee!!!" :rotfl:sorry, but you are both incorrect. The word petrichor is my favourite word and quite by chance describes my favourite smell:-
PETRICHOR
The smell of rain on dry ground.
More specifically, it’s the pleasant smell that often accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather in certain regions. It was named by two Australian researchers in an article in Nature in 1964, who discovered that the smell is an oily essence that comes from rocks or soil that are often (but not always) clay-based. The oil is a complicated set of at least fifty different compounds, rather like a perfume. It turned out that the oils are given off by vegetation during dry spells and are adsorbed on to the surface of rocks and soil particles, to be released into the air again by the next rains. The word comes from Greek πέτρος petros, a stone, plusἰχώρ ichor, from the Greek word for the fluid that flows like blood in the veins of the gods. So the word means something like “essence of rock”.
You're wishing you hadn't asked now :rotfl: ...

Hi all,
Can I please join the group.....
To save a long story WAS a prolific binge eater. Went from 10 stone to 17 stone in three years and am now on the road to recovery.
Was 17 st 4lbs at the beginning of June am now 13st 13lbs. Have found the only way to come off the junk is to go cold turkey..I've decided that overeating is an addiction and just as you wouldn't encourage an alcoholic to have a glass if wine or a drug addict to snort a line of cocaine..I have to take the same approach to bad food
I have not touched any rubbish since the diet began. God knows how I am doing this..I almost feel blessed like I am being carried through this..sorry if that sounds a bit cheesy.
Anyway..does anyone know how to add the list of how much you are losing to the end of your post..so I can see document how much I'm loosing each week.
Thanks all SS

Efrieze please would you put me down for 1 lb this week, so 11.5lbs this month and a total of 12.5lb.
I know 1lb is a perfectly good loss BUT I HAVE BEEN BRILLIANT this week and am, just in case you hadn't picked this up already, very put out that it's only ONE POUND. GGGGRRRRRRR!!!!!
I know I'm being unreasonable but, hey, I'm having a hard week anyway. So forgive me. I'll do positive in a minute.0 -

hi Miss Sparkly. I was reading a thread yesterday that you started and you took a bit of clog. That won't happen here - it's usually a very friendly supportive place.Miss_Sparkly_Star wrote: »Was 17 st 4lbs at the beginning of June am now 13st 13lbs. ... that's purely personal of course and would never work for some. Cold turkey can be very counter-productive. It's all in the psychological profiling. You can't tell anyone how they should follow a plan IMO, a client would have to work that out themself (or indeed have a large input to it) to really have the desire to make it work.Miss_Sparkly_Star wrote: »I've decided that overeating is an addiction and just as you wouldn't encourage an alcoholic to have a glass if wine or a drug addict to snort a line of cocaine
..... but you could substitute it for a less addictive drug (methodone for heroin) and then reduce the size of the fix over time.Miss_Sparkly_Star wrote: »Anyway..does anyone know how to add the list of how much you are losing to the end of your post..so I can see document how much I'm loosing each week.
......from the "Quick links" drop down menu at the top of the screen you can select "Edit signature".

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Petunia!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
[strike](Dear Petunia):[/strike] blind us with science why don't you :rotfl:
What an utterly romantic choice - I would never have guessed that.
Thanks LGN and victory for chicken bovril advice: it seems it is down to the individual buyers in each store and some branches stock it and not others. At least I know it is around now and will look further afield.
Back from my walk now. Very muggy here today and a bit puffed but feel virtuous for going
Welcome Miss Sparkly Star: sounds like you've dealt with some really big issues: well done you. It sounds tough. You are doing so well so far.
You will find plenty of warm support here.
Go to userCP at the top leftish of this page and select on the left you signature: you can write in there
..... no more caffeinated coffee for BB, I think she's had quite enough

.... it's true (and if I can't find evidence then I'll invent it) that most "I have been brilliant" weeks are rewarded not during the same week, but the week after. That only works if you stick to it though and give it another chance. Don't go over your syns and I'll take a bet with you that you clear 3 lbs next week.0 -
2lb loss this week. It's a start. Well done to all the other 'losers'.

Weight loss just ain't logical sometime Grannynise. Just keep focused, keep being good and it will show next week. Wl isn't linear in my experience even if I'm full on fab. Sorry you are having a hard week. :grouphug:
However you have lost a fabulous 11.5lbs this month!!!I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
