A woman goes to the doctor for her yearly physical. The nurse starts with certain basic items.
"How much do you weigh?" she asks.
    "62kg," she says.
The nurse puts her on the scale.
It turns out her weight is 70kg.

    The nurse asks, "Your height?"
    "5 foot 8," she says.
The nurse checks and sees that she only measures 5' 4".

She then takes her blood pressure
And tells the woman it is very high.
"Of course it's high!" she screams,
"When I came in here I was tall and slender!
    Now I'm short and fat!"

    Hello :)

I haven't had time to get online since Saturday so I've just been catching up on all the posts. Just to let you know, I summoned up enough courage to get on the scales yesterday and yippee - no damage done, I'm still the same!

Thank you all for your kind words of support, I really appreciate it.

Beanielou - glad you liked the joke, I'm fine, thanks for asking. You'd think Wispa bars would be low calorie as they're full of air.

Delly - pleased to hear the box arrived safely - I bet it's really tempting to take a peak! Sorry to hear you're not recovering as quickly as you'd hoped.

KPC - thank you for organising the swap boxes, it's a lovely idea and I really enjoyed shopping for my swappee. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy opening my box when it arrives too. Are you on the list to receive one?

Petrichor - which method of trouser hemming did you opt for in the end? Handstitching, iron on tape, double sided tape or staples? :rotfl: That whole discussion really had me tittering! Personally, I always go for the iron on method and I've never had problems with it showing - it does lose it's effectiveness after several washes, but it's easy enough to re-do when required. I keep a roll of the stuff in my ironing basket. You may wonder why someone as tall as me might need to take trousers up, but the reason is that I often buy from Long Tall Sally, who make trousers with an inside leg of 36"! (I prefer 33".)

Wilroda - the best way to find out which exercise you like is to give them all a try. I used to hate sports when I was at school. I'm not competitive and still don't enjoy team games to this day, however I really enjoy doing aerobics, and used to be addicted to step aerobics until my knees prevented me doing it anymore. It's hard to get over the initial self consciousness you feel when doing something new, but as others have said, remind yourself that you're doing it to benefit your health and appearance in the long term.

In my experience going to the gym isn't the fashion parade of lycra that it used to be, and people tend to be all shapes and sizes, usually in trackie bottoms and a baggie t-shirt, which is practical wear for exercise.

Tomorrow I'm going to give aquacise a go, so I'll let you all know how I get on.

Good luck to all who are weighing in tomorrow, and well done to everyone who has weighed in already.

hi guys 2lb off this week. total now 42lbs
  • Lois I haven't found not opening my swap box too stressful I've left it on my dressing table so I only see it in the morning and again at bedtime Out of sight out of mind. I'm glad you're feeling better and well done on maintaining. As our target members have shown, even maintaining a weightloss is difficult.

bindiboo well done on the 2lbs off. I was just thinking that we hadn't heard from you in a couple of days and suddenly there you are!

More confessions to make.... I've had a terrible day today. I've eaten anything that hasn't moved......314w4xt.gif. I don't know why, I've just been feeling kind of off, couldn't be bothered etc. Ah well, day one tomorrow. I just hope I haven't done too much damage.

Petrichor - I'm glad you managed to get the trousers finished. Of course I'm a bossy (like to be little) miss. I'm the only girl in a family of 5 (4 boys). The only possible way for me to be is bossy. Sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean it that way, it's just that your menu plans always seemed so yummy from before and I'm feeling totally uninspired.

Oh - first soup of the season made today. A yummy golden vegetable. Enough for lunch tomorrow and then loads to freeze for another day when I'm not feeling up to making much. Tomorrow I'm either making leek and potato or minestrone (haven't decided yet).
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

Great joke Lois :rotfl: :rotfl: and well done on staying the same :j I'm far too modest to say I told you so!!:o . I did the trousers the old fashioned way with needle and thread, once I got started it didn't take too long, I just went by 'eye' instead of measuring again and again and again, and the look perfect :j ...

Absolutely no offence taken delly ol'thing :D it made me laugh (a very hard thing to do at times these days so well done!) that's why I put the laughing smileys :rotfl:. Sorry to see that you had a bad day yesterday 5f0zv8.gif I hope that you have a better day today; your body has been through a lot of late, so take it as easy as you can and if it means mrv5o6.gif then so be it, it'll perhaps give your metabolism a jolt and your weight loss will speed up :D ...

..Well done bindiboo :j :j keep it up :T ...
