  • Right, just tried to eat dinner the Paul McKenna way: slowly chewing each mouthful and putting my fork down between mouthfuls instead of usual policy of preparing the next shovelful. I know I eat way too fast and have found it impossible to break the habit in the past even though I've known of these tips before. My OH eats very slowly but today he finished before me (and he had potatoes and I didn't). But it was really hard work to eat slowly: almost agony! And I kept forgetting to put myfork down: memory of a goldfish.
So this is my challenge to myself for the week:fork down after every mouthful and sloooow chewing.

Hope you feel better Victory and make it to the footie.
Great Zen site Seren - I could 'waste' loads of hours looking through that but it is very interesting and helpful so probably will :D
katiepc, I think you can put your website in your profile, but there must be a moderator you can ask somewhere?
natanddan: now remember how good you felt yesterday at losing 1.1kg - so get yourself to the gym (she says, happily slumped in the sofa :o )
Congrats to Raphael SOTW and nais, and then Annie and granynise on a super speedy 15lb loss. I hope you are both very encouraged :T
Spirt: really sorry to hear about the diabetes: is it type 1 or 2?: my dad was diagnosed this year with type 2 and has done very well losing 2 st and it's really helped stabalise his blood sugars.

Suggs: I think this is the week you'll see you can sucessfully shift weight when you put on a few pounds.

Off to explore the drmyhill website now...

    Hey everyone!

Glad to see you back BB, sorry to hear you're feeling mashed. You're right, the advice on here is ace, and I love the way advice aimed at other people can help inspire all of us too. The Paul McKenna eating is tricky to start with but does become habit after a little while so stick with it. My OH wolfs his food down so I find it v difficult, especially if we're sharing something as it's like a race in case I don't get my half!! Which could well help the WL, but equal rights and all that!:rotfl:

, this is so true: Top Tip....stop thinking about going to the gym and GO! The amount of times I persuade myself out of things by thinking about them is unreal if you just get up and go you're half way there before you realise it and more often than not enjoying it! things are never quite as bad as you think they will be....

I find if I can do something the moment I think about it, it's so much easier! That said, I told myself I was getting out of bed to go for a walk and then have logged on here!!:D Sometimes putting it into practice isn't so easy eh? Although I do still have it in mind, just wanted to check in first.

Well done Furrypig, not far to your target now!

Day 'Two' saw me eating a lot (not sure why, just had munchies) but I have lost the pound I had put on since the Wednesday weigh-in so now I'm on level ground again and hoping to lose an ickle bit by next Wednesday. Still not finding it easy but if I can just get a little WL under my belt I think it'll really help.

    Now, about that walk...:rotfl:

So did you follow your own advice and go for that walk bails??

Day one proper of following 2 of Paul McKenna's rules: fork down between mouthfuls and chew slowly to savour flavours. Remembered half way though full english brekkie (SW style :D ) which is a start.
I started eating quickly many moons ago when i did a live in voluntry project for a year as a yoof. There was never quite enough food for first helpings and it was first come first served for seconds...nuff said.
Does anyone else find it hard to give yourself less than your OH when it's something you particularly like? I do. And bless him, he hates it when our plates aren't equally served - he seems to think I'm having less so he can have more! As if :rotfl:

Well done furry pig: you really are getting there now. And it was only a few weeks ago you were discouraged at your lack of progess and look at you now!
I now want a nap after huge brunch...

  • I am feeling very pleased with myself today as I have managed to negotiate a bit of clothes shopping without coming out too depressed...there is nothing worse than a changing room mirror under fluorescent lights to show up all the worse things...I haven't changed shape yet as only about 7lbs lost but instead of depressing me it made me that little bit more determined...

Then I came home and ate a huge frittata instead of crisps and chocolate :-) I am trying to eat a rainbow today.

Swap box shopping all done I just have to wrap and assemble and then try and post it on monday....very exciting...

I have a nice lot of gardening scheduled in for tomorrow so fingers crossed for some sunshine

  • I approached along the lines of...hmmm...what would I like to get in a swap box and go from there or what would be usefull...a handy approach if you can't gauge what people are like from their posts or are unsure

I stayed away from chocolate as it would be unfair as the swappe would probably never see it as I employed my own don' think do rule.....mmmm....think about eating the chocolate...eat the chocolate....mmmm
