This is the rub. We can not talk about the EU as a single entity, when it is clearly not.

Sure, some of the countries positioned well might pick up extra business by drawing it away from London.

But it's unlikely to be Poland or Greece or Portugal.

The smaller less wealthy of the 27 EU states will still want to protect their interests.

It might be tricky for the EU 27 to come to a collective position when it comes to negotiating priorities.

That's a good point Kabayiri, however the Polish, Greek and Portuguese Banker will be able to work and live with his or her family in any of the EU 27.
Who knows what paperwork will be involved if they want to come to work in Britain or how attractive it will be for a British based Bank to go through the paperwork to recruit them!
But as I have said I wonder if Britain will actually leave.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Suppose we'll just have to wait for Brexit to not materially reduce immigration - and then spot the howls of outrage from all those people that have been trying to claim it's really all about 'sovereignty'.....:rotfl:

If what you say is true, they will be able to express their views through the ballot box which currently they are not, effectively, able to do.

Logic also includes the possibility that you initial assumption is incorrect.

Yes, there's the possibility that immigration wasn't the main issue for most people who voted leave. I think that possibility is on the skinny side of slim.

I'm pretty sure we'll be leaving the EU. It's unhelpful that many vocal leave voters are panicking about being 'betrayed' because it's preventing them from rationally moving forward and becoming active participants in the UK's bright future.

Maybe once article 50 is triggered they'll start to relax.

Honestly, the EU 27 may want to leave us.

I don't say this from any acrimonious point of view.

Certainly, the Eurozone countries will need to make some big decisions in the near future, and I'm just not sure we align that well with the general direction of the EU.

For example, we were in favour of reducing the EU budget in the last review, but didn't win the vote.

If Italy; France; Belgium; Germany want to move closer, isn't it easy without the UK putting it's nose in?

Large organisations will have departments to facilitate this activity already. Bankers come from all the over world to work in London. Same in the scientific research arena. Nationality holds little barriers.

Excellent point Kabayiri, can you imagine any club where one member gets a better deal than all the other members. When they have a meeting it spends all its time complaining (majority of MEP's) and say they want to disband the club.
There comes a point when the other members are rather glad that the ONE threatens to hand in its resignation.
In fact they are now holding there breath as they now worry that the resignation letter will NEVER be handed in.
