Come on, you're not new round here so there is no excuse for that post. You know full well that CLAPTON doesn't debate like that, so what do you think you are doing trying to tell him to debate like a sensible rational person

Yes it is a broad brush. It'll do though - Brexit is a very complicated way to attempt to reduce immigration.
People who voted because of democracy or to expand trade are in a minority or making it up.
it does not show respect for other peoples views nor does it respect their integrity.
It is usual however, for the left to reject fair debate, and to dis respect the views of those that differ from themselves.
One can hold an honest difference of opinion without assuming your opponents 'makes up their views'0 -
All we do know is what question was written on the ballot paper, and how the referendum topic was presented by the original proponent : David Cameron.
The question was about leaving the EU. David Cameron claimed when explaining the Tory manifesto before the GE that it would be a simple IN/OUT question. He never once mentioned a multiple consultation process.
As a voter I was perfectly entitled to accept his manifesto pledge, and read the question at face value.0 -

Nonsense. I'm quite clearly saying that I believe immigration was the core reason people voted to leave the EU. That's not controversial. Therefore if people are saying democracy and trade were their core reasons for voting to leave they're in a minority or lying.
It's a simple exercise in logic.0 -

That manifesto pledge has been delivered. There was a simple in/out question.
Maybe it was too simple.0 -

Logic also includes the possibility that you initial assumption is incorrect.0 -

sadly, your own words illustrate the lack of respect for other peoples views0 -

Brexit isn't going to (meaningfully) reduce immigration.People who voted because of democracy or to expand trade are in a minority or making it up.
Agreed.
Suppose we'll just have to wait for Brexit to not materially reduce immigration - and then spot the howls of outrage from all those people that have been trying to claim it's really all about 'sovereignty'.....:rotfl:“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Banks have a say in whether they want to be taken over and a choice in whether to move into the highly intrusive, risky lumbering EU where all manner of new finance regulations are comming down the pipe, including Basal4 and Mifid 2
Frankly have lived through a number of Banking disasters I consider the more regulation of Banks the better.
Now if Britain wants to attract or keep Banks by having loose regulation that is Britains choice. I do not agree. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
