The UK would consider making payments to the EU after it leaves the bloc to secure the best possible access to the EU single market, Brexit Secretary David Davis has said.
    '
Mr Davis told MPs the "major criterion" was getting the best access for goods and services to the European market.
"And if that is included... then of course we would consider it."
But Brexit-backing Tory Peter Bone said "people would be absolutely outraged" if the UK continued to pay the EU.
While apparently bumbling Boris would secretly like us to keep free movement!

They don't have a clue do they....so we pay for access to the single market! Does that mean in effect we will be paying to control our borders or does access to the market mean we have to accept freedom of movement? Is this what taking back control is going to amount to!:rotfl:

I think if we're involved in the single market, we'll have to pay something towards the running of it, there's no way out of that.

Will the payment mean we can skip the FoM part? I doubt it.

Of course. Even Norway and Switzerland pay for "access to the single market". I am amazed that anyone is surprised by this statement of the blinkin obvious.

....evidently Peter Bone doesn't agree with us giving the EU anything and besides what does 'having our cake and eating it' mean then..our own little bespoke deal apparently......to me it means having as much access as possible while contributing as little as possible! Nothing is obvious in the world we are now in!

No it'd make a significant difference. What's that got to do with your beloved African farmers - how will us leaving the EU / Single market help them?

I too agree that free trade is of great benefit to the people of europe: just as I see free trade would be of great
benefit to the people of africa

For the less subtle and less aware people, I use agriculatural trade with Africa partly as a totem example standing for 'developing countries' but also because they are are nearish neighbours and have been particularly damaged by the EUs CAP policies.

Once we have left the EU, we will be free to trade with all countries of the world without having to implement the EU protectionists tariff and regulations. If you believe in the benefits of trade, then the benefits to other countires including those of africa, will be obvious.

So you're not expecting anything to change?

I am expecting that the UK will trade with more countries and with lower tariffs

    Broad brush there.

How do you account for those (like me) who voted to leave the EU primarily to take advantage of trade relations with the rest of the world that we currently don't have, as well as the problematic "democracy" of the EU institutions?

Also, don't mistake arguing for those who do have concerns over immigration having the right to be heard with agreeing with their point of view. If these people feel that it is a legitimate concern, it's their right to exercise their vote in that manner. Who are we to say they are wrong having not walked in their shoes?

Yes it is a broad brush. It'll do though - Brexit is a very complicated way to attempt to reduce immigration.

People who voted because of democracy or to expand trade are in a minority or making it up.

so anyone that doesn't agree with you is simply a liar.
must make 'debate ' very simple if a little inconsequential

would the EU without free(ish) trade make a negligible difference to the people of europe?

Oh dear. You've spent so long parroting your spiel about African farmers you forgot to think about what Brexit might actually look like for them and thus can't articulate it.

How embarrassing that your concern for African farmers has been shown to be faux in this way.

Never mind. There's always the White Christians.
