Would you have a Contactless Credit card or Just Use Chip & PIn ?

in Credit cards
I have a friend (Yes its true I really do) who has two Credit cards (one is Contactless and the other is not), he says it’s better to use the contactless one as its quicker in places like McDonalds etc, but personally I think its daft and would prefer to use the card with the best benefits, which in his case is the Non Contactless card (It has Points).
Now I know everyone has their own views on this, but is contactless such a big deal ?, is it not considered the ‘In Thing’ if you don’t pay by contactless now and use chip in pin, which is admittedly slower.

I have both. No problem with using either and simply use the card I want to use.0

Works great for me.0 -

As a matter of course, I use whichever card gives me the most benefits, irrespective of whether it is contactless or not (I have both).
Occasionally when I'm in a hurry and/or the amount in question is very small I choose to tap my contactless card solely for the convenience.moneysaver6161 wrote: »I have a friend (Yes its true I really do) who has two Credit cards (one is Contactless and the other is not), he says it’s better to use the contactless one as its quicker in places like McDonalds etc, but personally I think its daft and would prefer to use the card with the best benefits, which in his case is the Non Contactless card (It has Points).

I'm much the same as PPs.
I will use the card I want to use for various benefits regardless of whether it's contactless or not.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. If you can't be the best -
Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
I really can't imagine why anyone would give preference to either, using the chip maybe takes 5 extra seconds so no big deal but I do still use contactless when available. I certainly wouldn't take it into account when deciding what card to use though.0

My main credit card is a legacy one with a small amount of cash back, the new one they issued is contactless so I now use that where possible, I was using the debit card from my other bank for stuff like the Underground for speed of access. Win win now I have contactless on the CC
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I use contactless (via Apple Pay) and use it where possible.
If a credit card I'd applied for didn't have contactless/support for Apple Pay it wouldn't bother me; it's what perks it offers me alongside any promotional offers i.e. 0% on purchases that swings it for me.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. I'll put it this way: If it's not contactless I don't have it and I won't be getting it any time in the future.0

Why doesn't your friend contact the provider of the card which he gets points with and ask them to send him a contactless card? Win win for your friend then.
I'm the same as 20aday. Besides, most companies now are offering contactless as standard or will be in the next year so it's a moot point really.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards.
