    Hello everyone

and happy birthday to catowen's ds! :bdaycake: :T

    I haven't had much to say lately OS-wise.. .:o

Today though is the last of three days off (not planned - just that there wasn't any work), and I am having a well deserved rest after doing a thorough cleaning of the flat and a review of all my bedding and towelling. I have more than I need so I'm disposing of a quilt cover, pillowcases, two fitted sheets, and also one bath sheet. All washed and clean and ready for the charity shop down the road.

I'm beginning to get the "space making" bug, so I decided to get rid of all the stuff I haven't used for 2 years.

In the last two weeks I've dropped 1 kg in weight (2.2 lb) but I'm not counting chickens yet...;). This in spite of having been on holiday at my mum's. On top or the good food she cooked while I was there, she gave me to bring back: a jar of pesto she made using her basil shrubs, olive oil etc. A jar of jam from her own apricots and six great lemons from the tree in the garden - due to cold winters over there, the lemons mature only every two or thee years but this was the year :j. They are large, juicy, and totally organic, as the only fertiliser is manure from a nearby horse stable.

Now I'm off for a walk, just to make sure the 2.2 lb don't creep back on.:o

Good day to one and all. :)

PS - Aussielass: My mum makes a fantastic zucchini soup (I have the recipe now )
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

    Afternoon all.
Well iv finally cleaned the windows inbetween the rain showers, changed the bedding and put on the winter duvets and the fleecy throws, i will not put the heating on yet!!! Found out all the hot water bottles and wheat bags and slipper socks. I love getting wrapped up at night in front of tv.
Washing now in tumble dryer as its raining again, jacket potatoes in oven for tea, kitchen clean and tidy.
About to start some ebaying before school runs, ds1 staying for year 7 footy team trials, then home for a relaxing night in front of tv after homework.
    Have a great evening everyone

    Hello fellow Old Stylers!
Hugs to those who need them today.
OS today has been hoovering through, white wash in and clearing out psycho cat's tray [psycho because she ambushes and chases any canine that has the audacity to walk past our house...and believe you me it's quite a sight as she's only pint sized:D ]
OH did a good waste not want not experiment last night [actually some of his more recent antics are starting to worry me. He seems to be overtaking me in the old style stakes:eek: ] I, for some unbeknown reason, had a mad five and bought two boxes of muesli from Lidl [this is in the full knowledge that I'd rather eat the box than the stuff inside:rotfl: :rotfl: ]. Anyway he's turned it into some very yummy granola [having increased the calorific value ten fold in the process] which we had on our breakfast cereal this morning. Obviously it would have been cheaper had I not bought the darned stuff in the first place but hey ho..only one more box to go!!
Kitchen is coming on apace. In my usual non moneysaving style I fell in love with the most expensive tiles in the shop but the man very kindly gave me the brochure to drool over whilst I've actually chosen some lovely cheaper ones. The expensive ones you can't put anywhere near the sink or clean them with anything other than water because it ruins the glaze. Practical then!!! Off to Homebase to get some paint samples on their 10% day at the weekend and looks like I've also tracked down some really good cheap replacement doors. Shall order a sample first methinks!
Other than the obligatory washing and ironing my only OS plans for the weekend are cooking a pork goulash in the SC and making apple butter. We're off to see the Rotten Romans in Worthing on Saturday..the small person was just the excuse I needed to go:rotfl: :rotfl:

cant believe its friday tomorrow, such a short week, was at asda yesterday and see asda smartprice butter has gone from 58p to 70p
have picked most of the apples now so will have to get them ready for the freezer to see us through the winter, think the fruit and veg will be expensive this year too

  • Afternoon Guys!!

Well Im feeling a little more with it:D ....OH knows how to cheer me up and as ive been stuck in for what seems weeks, we went to Dartford this morning. He took us to the greasy spoon for breakfast (but had half a slice of toast-he ate well though:D ) then the 99p store (where I bought 10 Leappad bags for obvioulsy 99p each but will sell on Ebay at £5+;) and 12 packets of Bero-SR Flour for 99p), then Wilko where I got hairdye/bleach and loads of reduced sweets and more baked beans at 99p for 4. On the way back he took a detour (sp) and we ended up at John Lewis. I knew he had been saving for his Wii with JL vouchers, but he came back with a Radley messenge bag I said that I liked a couple of weeks ago....I started crying:o I said it was too expensive and that we couldnt afford it. He told me to shut up and that it was an early anniversary pressy (dec).....I love my hubby sometimes:o

Anyway, after 2 hours I was completely knackered and we came home to a lovely clean house.

The funeral is next Wednesday and we have a wedding next Saturday. What a mixture of emotions!

Im off for a cuppa and biccie. Have my fav Shepherds Pie tonight:D

Hugs and thanks to all the well wishes.

  • Hi PP,
What a lovely hubby you've got!
I'm knackered now, been cleaning all day. Stripped the beds right down, now I've got about 15 pillowcases to iron!
Did seven loads of washing, and got it dry in between the showers.
That's it, I'm giving up now!
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T
