Good morning, great to hear all the good news (esp. Heavenleigh). DH has just gone off with the children to drop them at before school club, and I'm pottering. I'm off to London later this morning, for a one-day conference tomorrow ... oh, and a bit of a shopping trip this afternoon and dinner with good friends tonight. I really must look up where the conference is, I think it is at Queen Mary's but I could be wrong and that would be embarrassing.

Before I go I must get the washing on the airer, put O's wet sheets in the machine, put the washing away from the last 3 days, and give DH instructions about what the children need in their lunchboxes tomorrow. He and 'the help' [a friend is coming for the night to help out with the children ... no, he isn't incompetent but it's nice to have help and she's living on her own at the moment] are having leftover biryani plus some saag potato and samosas I found in the freezer tonight, and tomorrow he'll cook sausages (leaving the extra ones for me).

We got some news yesterday that wasn't completely unexpected: DH's project at work is stalled, probably cancelled, and he may be looking at redundancy. At one time (before my light bulb moment) I would have been really nervous but oddly enough I am quite excited. He's only been there a year, and hates the place. It's likely that if he wants another job, he could get one without too much trouble but really this is the opportunity to think about what he wants to do for the next 20 years. We've talked about him staying home for a while ... wow, I could have a wife!

Financially, it would be a shock but we'd still have £2500 a month, which is plenty to pay rent and live quite comfortably. Heck, many of you do it on much less - I feel embarrassed even admitting that would involve cutbacks. We've always lived just inside or sometimes outside our means, and there is lots of room for savings. We don't have a mortgage - live in a rental - and have no debt or even a credit card. There is some money in a savings account. We'd be fine. And how the stress levels would drop.
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000
    June grocery challenge: 400/600

I should add that the reason we don't own a home at the moment is that we shifted back here from New Zealand a year ago, and haven't yet decided whether West Yorks is going to be a permanent base. We have most of a deposit in the bank, but don't want to buy at the moment when prices are so volatile. Renting, we get a whole lot more house for a lot less money.

    Morning all,

Hugs to Pen pin, and Mrs Mcawber sister, hope you are both ok.

    Happy birthday Cat DS :j

Goodluck with the interview frogga, you never know he might get to really like you and your family and leave you his millions when he falls of the lilly pad :D

    Welcome back ageandjo

W**k today, I think we may have a takeaway for tea :j saves me cooking, DD is at after school gym untill 5, we get home at 5.30 and OH has to leave at 6 for hid 2 hr driving lesson, so dinner has to be squeezed into 1/2 hr.
Food shopping being delivered tonight. We won £10 on the lottery on saturday picked it up last night, its gone straight in the xmas pot, OH puts all his change into a tin throughout the year, and it more than pays for all the xmas food and wine, and a few pressies, I think there is about £250 - £300 in there at the moment :j .

I bought a brabantia bin about 5 years ago, its a lovely steel one with a flat back that sits against a cupboard, anyway the lid has broken, so contacted brabantia, and they are sending a new one free of charge :j

The breast clinic phoned yesterday, I have an appointment next friday, apparantly it takes 3 - 4 hours  they do a mamogram first, then a scan and if needed take some cells out, but at least it will all be over in one day.
Can anyone tell me if the mamogram hurts ? some people have said it does and others not, I should imagine having a needle in your boob does, but Im hoping I don't have to have that.

    Anyway rambiling on now, sorry,

Hugs to all that need them
    Sue

Hi Redruby a mammogram is more uncomfortable than anything you have to stand awkwardly and you get a bit squashed and part of the machines digs in your arm the way you have to hold on
it's less umcormfortable if you are well endowed so I'm told

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

    Hi everyone

Special hugs to all those feeling poorly or a bit fragile. Celebrations and gentle thoughts to all who need them.

Red ruby good luck with mammogram I was dreading my first but it was fine-no pain at all.

Well we have just returned from 3 days in Cornwall visiting friends. Lovely time , cliff top walks and lots of money saving copying delicious recipes( mostly veggie as she grows a lot) and too her beautiful dogs out blackberry picking. 3 ice cream containers full!!!

So its tiptoe over to the churchyard for some apples and then crumble here we go.

Off to work this afternoon- got to be done even though I dont want to go. Think of the pennies.

    Have a good day everyone
Try and do a good deed every day.

KuneKune What made you move back from NZ? Not that I blame you mind. :D I've never been there tbh, but I'm told it's really gorgeous.
Nelski I'm sure your Mum will appreciate you being there. Funerals are always hard to bear.
Ruby Mine hurt like hell. Then again it could be because I'm an A cup. :p
Taplady Go easy on DH next time. :D

I'm just waiting for everyone to come home to have tea. I'm starving. Already eaten an apple, a biscuit and a few big spoons of yoghurt.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
