    Last week's thread

It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.

Welcome to the Weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
    WM ~ Washing machine
    TD ~ Tumble dryer
    SC ~ Slowcooker
    BM ~ Breadmaker
    DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
    DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
    OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
    NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
    ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!

Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Thanks for starting us off Valli; I do hope Natty's ok though.

I'll be doing what I can, as and when this week. Emphasis will, I think, be on keeping the Cassie-hair vacuumed up; she's in full moult mode, bless her.:o

Waiting for GP to ring Mr LW re the results of his chest x-ray - she's supposed to be ringing him this morning. My nerves are, of course, frazzled, and I'm imagining the worst.:(

Oooooh, mentioned in dispatches. I feel very honoured.

*calming and coping vibes* for you Lamewolf and *be healthy* vibes for Mr LW.

Everything's been tidied, readied for what has to happen next so today's going to be a bit of a waiting day. I'd like to nip out to the closing down B&Q to pick up a cheapo 500mm floor standing kitchen cabinet and any old door that won't look too foul for the space the under the counter fridge will be vacating when things progress a bit. Hmm. Should have thought of that last week. I'll join Narco and do a bit of clearing of froggie paperwork to pass the time, I think. I need to write to Land Registry to get them to redraw the boundary between us and next door because the deeds of both properties are wrong. Let's hope it goes through with no hitches.
      Better is good enough.

Yikes LW hope all is well xx

Iona I have work to do too, but the kiddies are off school today

Thanks Valli for the lists and hugs to natty xx

Well can you believe even with no school, we were dressed, breakfasted and out by 8:40? I was tired last night so went to bed early with some paracetamol and decongestant drops, and slept loads better!

We've been out for more hay, loo roll, and all sorts of bits n bobs that we had run out of. I bought a mini oil-filled radiator for the garage / den to replace the halogen one, I can put a timer on this one whereas I wasn't happy leaving the other unattended.

I'm probably going to be off list this week - I'm a bit disorganised although making inroads so I want to keep going and get my act together.

We're also going bowling this afternoon, with my dad. Then swimming lessons - I'm putting the swim bag in the car in case we need to go straight there... Also might make a couple of sandwiches - and some bottled water.

      Must do some homework tonight!

    • Thank you for the list Valli and I hope Natty is ok xx

I am well and truly in, albeit off list. The bathroom has had the best clean it's had in months this morning, courtesy of DS (only just potty trained) trying to use the big boy toilet and missing :o

WM, DW and TD have all been on and unloaded, and I've hoovered throughout. Need to take some bits to the charity shop, pop to the PO and go to the butchers before I pick the littlies up.

Keep saying at the start of each day "today will be a good day" and it seems to be working.

      Big hugs all round xx

    • I'm in again, was very off list last week but got a few bits done. OH and I had a flying session yesterday - he hovered and mopped downstairs and I cleaned the big bathroom. Bought a paint scraper for the windows yesterday so finally starting to get all the pain spatters off the windows that the previous owner left for us! Very satisfying.

Kitchen is fairly tidy so hopefully will be a quick job when I get in at 8 tonight.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!!

Well, it's absolutely hissing down here :( already splashing through a huge amount of standing water outside and there's water coming in over the top of the stairway window onto the ancient stairs. Joy.

Builder One off with man-flu, Builder Two went to the quacks this morning and has been sent to hospital:eek: and Builder Three is the home-alone apprentice, so not much getting done. Ah well. I'm hoping the carpenters might show later to start putting in the 16' oak sole plate for our lounge wall, which arrived nice and early this morning with the owner of the sawmill, no less. I think he came to [STRIKE]laugh[/STRIKE] suss out what might be needed next.
