Have cleaned the oven. My dad is deteriorating quickly so I might need to go up and stay for some time at short notice. And friends who are currently homeless may house sit. So the oven being clean is important. First time I've cleaned it in 3 years as a new kitchen has been on the agenda since I moved in...
Everything else is vaguely OK. Spare 'double' bed is rather small... (4ft) but I expect they'll cope. There are always the two large singles in the other spare room. Or the kids beds. I'll need to do some more putting away of stuff (can do that tonight) and run the hoover round, do my filing (I don't really want them to get overly familiar with my banking details!) and wash the kitchen floor.0 -
Greenbee sorry to hear your father is not well.
ATB yes you can claim back next 1/4 for VAT, but if it is that large, why not ring HRMC or go on line and see if you can resubmit your return for that 1/4 and made the adjustment. It is worth a try.
Daily stuff is done
Still watching it rain here

Thanks Kaz. It's under the £10k threshold their website makes reference to, so I wasn't sure if they might just tell me to deal with it on the next return. When I last tried to phone them it took me over an hour to speak to someone, so I guess I've assumed as it's under £10k they won't let me amend it xxxMFW

(((Hugs))) ATB. You're bound to feel carp if you were up all night with a poorly child, there are money issues and and there's a minor op to factor in. You can let off as much steam here as you think will help. More (((hugs))).
Greenbee, I'm sorry to hear about your father. Your homeless friends will not be worried about the state of your oven or your floors. The priority is to do the filing to lock away your confidential papers and then, if there's time, to remove the clutter and finally, if you have time, to put clean sheets on the bed/s they're going to use. Nothing else matters, absolutely nothing, not putting the vacuum cleaner round or anything. If you're really short of time just put the clean sheets, still folded, on the bed and they can make it themselves. Safe journey and take very good care of yourself while you're focussing on your father.
Credit where credit's due, curry$ staff are absolutely brilliant, even if they're ordering and distribution system is pants. It took about an hour and a half in store but I'm very happy with the outcome and something americany fridge/freezery will be delivered on Friday. Fingers crossed and all that. I'm seriously impressed with how pleasant and helpful everyone I've dealt with was, and they have with sympathies with Black Friday coming up.
So, not a lot else achieved this morning but the few things I have achieved were well worthwhile, and I'm now in the process of dealing with another frog. Happy Honey Bear.Better is good enough.0 -

Oh dear, hugs to all poorlies, those with poorly families, those missing loved ones, and paid soon vibes for ATB xx
I'm done for today - have a steaming cold, kiddies said my voice sounded very odd at story time. So I'm having a gingerbread green tea with honey and lemon, and a couple of paracetamol for supper
Not sure what I've achieved today. Lots of washing - hope school coats dry in the airing cupboard  both came home filthy today! Also sorted the piggies - their sleep section is fleece lined, and was getting all in a tangle but I had a plan and it seems to have worked. They had a bit of beetroot today, lol, and I did their weekly check over (boy has been scratching, wanted to check for mites and so on) and their little furry mouths were all purply lol. So funny. And no mites or anything to be found.
Sorted my homework and journal, all printed and bags etc ready for morning. I packed some cold and flu remedy for my lunch for tomorrow
I think an early night for me.Bossymoo

Hi all
Hi LaE thought I was on the wrong thread for a mo! Nice to see you here x
Oh atb love, things sound rubbish. Stay strong. And same for LW. My DH has to go for a chest x-ray on Friday. He hasnt been right for a while so part of me is hoping that they find something that's easily fixable.
Sorry about your Dad greenbee.
So, today. 7 hrs paid stuff split between the two jobs then gym class. Tea was diced chicken chucked in a jar of thai green curry sauce but very nice. Tidied our bedroom because it was messy and changed our sheets while I was at it. Kitchen and LR reasonably presentable.
I am done for the day. Both jobs very busy at the moment so it will be all go again tomorrow!0 -
Thanks Greenbee for your inspiration (see extras list). Sorry to hear about your Dad.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Morning all
Thinking of you and your dad, Greenbee.
Thoughts with you too, Katiecat.
Hope that the red letter does the trick, ATB, and that you can claim back the VAT now.
Calming vibes to LW.
Nice to hear about the helpfulness of that shop, HB. Enjoy your new FF!
Mrs-mp, I did laugh at your DGS playing postie :rotfl:
Beetroot doesn't just turn skin purple, Bossy - don't panic over pink piggy puddles
My plans for today:

- S&S bathroom
- Think about what we're going to eat today (plenty in the FF, just what do I fancy cooking, preferably in the SC?)
- Clean kitchen
- Tidy and dust LR and DR, ask DH to hoover and steam mop
- Take DH to hospital for a blood test
- On the way, take summer duvet to cleaners (I put it out of the way in the landing cupboard about 6 weeks ago when we were expecting visitors, then forgot it was there) )
- Work on my essay
- 2-hour meeting with my supervisor to revise my learning agreement
- send out the FSS details (see below)
- Take DH to his signing course tonight and collect him afterwards too if he can't get a lift home from another very kind student
