Warn you of what though? That's a genuine question by the way, am not being sarcastic
Just really don't see what you'd need warning about. 0 -

I think you may just be a little over-sensitive.n0

My closest friend jumped up and down hysterically offering to make my wedding cake. I felt compelled to say yes. I loved the TASTE of her cakes. Long story short, my wedding was quite formal and the cake looked nothing like a wedding cake on the day. It was way too small, only one layer, practically falling apart and just looked like a home made birthday cake. I had to tell the professional caterers take it away asap, then disappeared and had a sniffle. We didn't cut the cake publicly as I was embarrassed by how it looked. 20 years later she apologised and said she knew she had screwed up and was way out of her depth. Didn't understand the brief was so totally different to the family events she baked for. She has continued to make birthday cakes for the family including christening cakes.
My mother went on about it for bloody years after! My husband only once said "Thought it was a joke and I was waiting for the real cake to be brought out" We have never spoken about it again.
I think you are a tiny bit sensitive about this. Get over it let them choose who they want to make the cake. Its their day and its all their choice, dress shoes, food, venue, cake etc THEIR CHOICE. Move on, be a guest / good friend and have a good time on the day."... during that time you must never succumb to buying an extra piece of bread for the table or a toy for a child, no." the Pawnbroker 1964

I haven't seen the email reference but I have to agree I would be seriously unimpressed if MSE did this to one of my threads.
Surely the point of a anonymous forum is to get views from people with different life experiences? The chances of someone being able to identify someone must be very small.....unless of course that thread is emailed to goodness knows how many people.0 -

Quite... my friend is fully aware this was posted, he was happy for me to do so as he knew it would help me, but I'd rather various sets of parents didn't find it.
Also on twitter now. For crying out loud!0
