I am also getting a problem with the spreadsheet. If i fill in a weekly expenditure and also a monthly one for the same item, say for example other home expenditure, it doesnt work out the amounts int he part B section,

Also a suggestion, I would like to add comments so i know what expenditure i have included when multiple bills go unnder the same tab, can you "unprotect" some of the worksheet to allow comments to be inserted?

    regards

    Steve
  • I can confirm that I also have the macro problem, so it's not a issue with the others' computers.
  • Hi,

The problem is with your macro security settings. If you have MS Excel 2007 goto your file menu (the large circular icon at the furthermost top left part of your screen), goto excel options at the bottom of the little window that opens up. From within there you can choose to alter your macro settings, temporarily switching it off will do the trick, you will need to re-open the file to get it to work.
Earlier versions of Excel usually allow you to run the macros at startup but if it still doesn't work goto the Tools menu, choose options and then the General Tab. Uncheck the box that says 'Macro Virus Protection'.

    Hi

I have used the spreadsheet for a while now and it really is amazing, thanks! I was just updating a few figures and '#VALUE!' appeared in the monthly total cell of the insurance box. Now I can't get rid of it and it won't let the rest of the planner update.

    Grateful for any help

    TIA

  • I have used the Excel version of the budget planner and am over half way through - I exited using the save and exit but now I can't get back into the spreadsheet that I have started. Please help
  • ajdandcjd, are you saying that you can't find the spreadsheet file to open it, or that you have found the file but can't open it? If it's the former, search for budget.xls. If it's the latter, post the exact error message.
  • Hi All,I've downloaded the budget planner but I have Open Office, which works almost identically to office and opens office files. It also creates files readable by office. The difference between Open Office and Microsoft Office is that Open Office is free. You'll find people selling it on ebay but it can be downloaded for free. The planner opens in it, once the macro protection has been disabled, but when you click on one of the buttons there's an error message - I'm guessing its something to do with it not being Microsoft Office. I mention this because:a) Open Office is an excellent cost free alternative to Mr Gates' productb) Because of the similarities it might not take too much tweaking to make it work....?Just an idea - I'm no software engineer!Regards.
