Protected cells have nothing to do with whether the file as a whole is read-only. You either need to find it in Windows Explorer, right-click on it and add write permission, or you just Save As a different name in Excel, leaving you with the original downloaded version and your edited version with a different filename. It's the same as with any file on your computer.

Hi I have downloaded the budget planner, but everytime I try to input data into the cells it says its protected and asks for a password - can someone please advise. I am using MS Excel 2002

As requested many times in this thread, I too would like to put notes on the side of the page, such as christmas and birthdays, and who has how much.

Please Martin, give us the password.

Apart from the LOCKED pages, this bugget planner is awsome...

Can anyone help me??
I have downloaded the budget spreadsheet but I cannot access any of it. Every time I click on any of the celss, buttons etc I get an error message saying X The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact you administrator.
Has anyone experienced and sorted this problem?

The reason I posted the link to http://www.vertaron.com/deliver/budgetplanner/Default.aspx

was that it contained the budgetplanner in Openoffice format ods.

You can download it a play with it. If you do not have Open office or Excel you can download the standalone (as long as you have .net) or play with the online version.

If you remove this again then that is fine. The service at https://www.vertaron.com is free and has no advertising etc.

martin gave us the password when he explained to planner . he states that if , when trying to input something , you get told that it is protected then the password is 'money' .
