What car do you have and whats it like?

  • In the past: various Vespas (ET2, ET4, PX) and a rubbish plasticky Korean knockoff of a Japanese scooter. Cars: ancient Nissan Sunny, Citroen Saxo (sold after we crashed it and discovered it offered all the crash protection of a paper bag and your knees formed the crumple zone), Citroen C3 (another error), Mk 3 Astra, Citroen C1, Fiat 500.

Currently: 2014 Kia Sportage (bought used) and 2016 Renault Captur (pre-reg). Both bought with family in mind and for boot space etc rather than huge amounts of driving excitement, although the Sportage has the best driving position and pedal dimensions of any car I've owned.
  • Hull?

    North?

Hardly. It's grim, I grant you, but it's not *northern* grim :)

Where did you have in mind?

    I'll raise you Workington.
  • I find it perfectly adequate for the rigours of the daily commute, thanks. It's also every bit as good in the real world as either of the *actual, not imaginary* M cars I've owned, but a lot cheaper to own. Not quite as good on a track** perhaps, but fine for going to work, carting !!!! to the tip, and visiting Tesco on a Friday.

**my bike is much better on the track than either of them, to be fair; and yes, it's a BMW too.

For someone who's not been around long, you know a lot about my car ownership history, don't you?
I would have imagined that the E36 M3 is a lot more "raw" and exciting compared to the E46 330ci - considering it's resale value is a lot more and it's a generation older car.
How is the E36 330ci in terms of reliability, build quality and comfort? How does it compare to other cars of a newer generation, for example a 1 year old Vauxhall Insignia or Mondeo?

    And he's back.

North of Durham. To my knowledge the only Waitroses in the area are around Newcastle, catering for the students from the south :-)

    There wasn't an E36 330ci.

And I have no idea, you'd not get me driving an Insignificant or Mundano if my life depended on it.

Sorry I meant E46 330ci. Okay fair enough I can see why you would never want to drive a boring mondeo after driving a luxury in-line 6 cylinder 3 litre RWD luxury car

I wouldn't call it luxurious. My Skoda Superb Edition 100? Now that was luxurious. Heated seats front and rear? Footrests for the rear seat passenger? Solar sunroof? More legroom than an S-Class? Tints? Nappa leather?

Hell of a lot more toys, more comfort, more practicality, lower running costs and better reliability than the 330, which is basically just a 3 door repmobile with a decent engine and autobox.

I don't know why you're dancing to his tune.

Why not? It's fun demonstrating that he knows very little, if only to discredit any supposedly authoritative posts he makes. Let's face it, I publicly identified him over two weeks ago and he's still here, so if he's going to be allowed to continue posting, then I may as well have a little fun.

The thing is he'll just turn another thread into a let's talk about BMW's and how good the M3 is using the information you've given him.
