Pink Your home manual that I'm reading is great. I'm really impressed. ;)

You've seen my home.......please tell me it isn't as bad as Haribo has painted it! Unfortunately she got the housework and decoratiing genes and I didn't! :(

Wasn't it Shirley Conran who said that life's too short to stuff a mushroom? My loose translation of that is that the house will be here when I'm not! :D I think that I went to the same school of housework as Nelski! ;)

Edit: Catowen, it's fantastic to see you back........I've missed your posts.
  • Pink Your house was lovely. The wine, food & company like none other. You know Haribo is just jealous cos you look heaps younger. :D Don't listen to her. :p

    Cat You lucky duck.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

36_11_6.gif @ Pink Id like to say I saw you there but I was a consistent truant:D :D :embarasse

Life is too short to do anything you dont enjoy doing in my view and if you love housework and cooking then its worth spending time on but if you dont then dont. Ask Jackie O if her cleaning is a priority for her right now and I think we will get a resounding NO. Her posts are full of her friends and her family and her amazing attitude towards having a fab life. Anyway back to avoiding the cleaning again :rotfl: (Pink do you have any good excuses in that manual of yours if so can I read it:D )

    Hugs to all avoiders

  • Hello again

Just a quick update....OS first.... have got a huge batch of chilli started..its in the oven at the moment...will finish that off soon, Savoury meat rolls have ended up being 2 savoury meat pies....:o .... well it was quicker, and i can just shove them in the freezer, part freeze em until nice n firm and then portion up into bags and finish freezing :D - so thats 12 portions for the freezer :T
Have the yeast mix sat in the flour, and will go and turn that into a loaf in a moment....
and have taken the pork, veg n barley pie out of the freezer for tea,,,will do the veggies n potatoes, whilst im chopping up all the extra to blanch n freeze

Can't ya tell who deals with stress n worry by cooking n cleaning....and i can feel a "scrub fest" coming on !!

Now the non OS..... update on sis!!!

Just spoke to mum, it seems they are operating today... its a rugby ball shaped mass that runs from her left hip to her left ovary _pale_ , and judging by the size and density they say it will weigh at least 14lb:eek: .... so she is having to have a full hysterectomy(sp).... she will only be 42 next week. They have said that they can't rule out the obvious ...and it will be going away for testing and the results won't be back for 14days. She was hoping they would do a tummy tuck at the same time, but they can't cut across-they are having to cut down from the navel..so she has asked if they can take any extra from there instead and apparently doesn't mind if she ends up with a pleat...good job she has a sense of hummour...

They are keeping her in for a week...although she has already made best buddies with the "tea lady".... she fills her flask for her when she comes round - to last her until the next time... she is a serious tea belly:laugh: ... and then once they have let her out they have told her she has to do nothing for 3 months...she will go stir crazy no doubt....

Anyway i had better get on and do something....

Hope everyone is having a good day... hugs to all those who need one...
Will be back later to read through all the posts...can't concentrate at the moment...so please dont think im ignoring anyone :D

Catowen - nice to see you back - congrats on your wins - you're doing so well.

Johanne - happy birthday  hope you have a great day.

MrsM - fingers crossed everything goes well with the op.

Well the motivation to get the sewing machine out vanished. Instead I've tided the pressie cupboard and moved all the xmas stuff to the loft. Whilst I was up there I had a good sort through and found 3 more bags of winter clothes - one was DD's stuff that won't fit so loads to go on ebay.

Got a huge roasting tin of toms and onions, basil and olive oil, roasting away in the oven - smells devine - just going to sweat off some more onions and celery to add to it to make a soup (need to peel the toms once they've cooled down a bit - I hate that job) - should be yummy. Might make a nice tear-n-share bread to go with it.

Right - off for an early lunch - had brekkie at 6.30 and I'm starving!!

Hi all. Just back from my first visit to the gym for two weeks. Nearly killed me but I'm feeling quite virtuous now! I made some cakes and a blackberry crumble before I went so I'll look on them as a reward later.

Such a lot has happened and is happening on this thread - I can't keep up with you all! Crazy and DLB - that must have been exciting - breaking and entering. Will we see you on Crimewatch or was this just a one-off?!

(((hugs))) to all who are worried, anxious, unwell or in pain. Loraine - hope you are not too sore after yesterday and, Haribo, hope you are feeling better.

Catowen - glad you are posting again.

Well - my holiday was lovely if a bit busy - we did a lot of socialising which involved drinking fine French wine almost every night. We've been invited to our friend's Halloween fancy dress party there; last year we went as hippies and DH and I did a little dance routine which, apparently, went down so well (we were all rather alcoholised at the time) that another one has been requested for this year. We are rehearsing for that every evening now which is more of a laugh than anything else. Still - it'll be alright on the night, I suppose. This year's theme is Cowboys and Indians and we've chosen to go as Indians.

I had a lovely birthday while we were away. I had some lovely jewellery from DH and lots of other things. We went to a town called Niort for the day which was really good then had a fantastic meal in the evening. The chef in the restaurant recommended his dish of the day which was Beef Bourgignon (sp?) which was delicious and served with the most wonderful cheesy creamy mash, followed by a dessert of something chestnutty and yoghurtty, and wonderful coffee afterwards. I could eat it again right now!

The weather was fantastic for the last week and we visited lots of friends. We didn't do too much work to the house this time; we seem to spend all our time there working and decided to sightsee a lot as well this time so it felt more like a holiday than usual. Right now, though, I'm looking forward to Christmas and will start writing out my lists this week. I think I must have about two thirds of the pressies I need to get but I want to knit some this year. I bought two massive balls of wool in France for 1 euro each. 400gs of very fine wool but in balls as big as cushions. I bought one in a French lavender colour and the other is teddybear coloured. I need to find the right patterns and needles now because it most definitely is not double-knitting wool. It might be tricky deciding what to knit with it but I love a challenge.

Well, can't think of any more news at the moment. The weather is very dull and overcast; it looks like rain so I will have to keep an eye on the washing. I must also put the ironing board up - whether it will get used is another matter.

By the way, AMIE, I was so nervous about flying on my own when I flew to France but I thoroughly enjoyed the flight. It was a clear day and I could see all the countryside. I was very brave and sat by the window (on longer flights, I just close my eyes and pray) and could not believe how not-frightened I was. It only took 55 minutes and, with the quick easy check-in at Southampton airport, it was hassle-free. l was immensely proud of myself once we had landed. I'm sure the pilot sounded as if he was about 14 years old but he got us there safely. I know one thing - I do not want to fly from Gatwick or Heathrow ever again!

Well, off now to do something constructive or have a cake. I wonder which?

    See you all later.
