Morning. I have just put some washing on (DS only has two pairs of trousers for school at the moment so I daren't leave it). Had an early start - he woke at 6.15, but I can't complain as he did his poo in the toilet rather than in the pullup. If they had told me when he was born that we would be dealing with this more than 8 years later, I think I would have sent him back, but it's a bit late now.

I was hoping he'd go and play on the computer in his room, but no, he wanted to go downstairs and watch a dvd, so I had to come down, take the knobs off the gas cooker and turn the microwave off at the wall. We don't want a repeat of the attempt to make his own breakfast (came down to four rings blazing, and he was just pouring some oil into a frying pan), plus a cellophane wrapped box of popcorn in the microwave, set to keep going for 20 minutes!!!!! I hope the knobs come off in the new house, otherwise we will have to find an alternative safety system.

Will head off to work shortly - I am trying to get ahead on lecture preparation before classes start next week, today is legal history #2, criminal law #3 and 2-3 hours on trying to turn a conference paper into a proper article. Ought to tidy office but perhaps that is a good job for tomorrow before I head down to London. It's nice to see students around again after 4 months of quiet. I won't feel like that in a week or two, of course, when they start bugging us.

On topic, will have another go at biryani tonight after last night's liver detour. And maybe some lentil soup to go with it. Omelettes for the children, they don't like spicy stuff. Or, in DS's case, vegetables.

Not got much done so far.

Need to put second load of washing in the machine and then hang out all the washing.

Have to pick up my prescription from the doctor's and DD wants Wartner's for verruccas while I m at the chemist.

Trying to get motivated to go shopping for a couple of pairs of casual trousers and jumpers for the winter as it is beginning to get a bit chilly.

Still have home made soup in the fridge that I made yesterday and no idea what is for tea as it depends if the weather is still chilly or brightens up a bit.

Need to post some stuff for Amazon as well.

Heading to kitchen for big pot of tea so see you all later.

    Morning all (again),

Amie, I hope you're feeling better after your fall yesterday.
Hester, I hope you have a better day at work.
Heavenleigh, Thinking about you this morning....did you get through to the hospital yesterday? Fingers crossed that you got good news. I had an amniocentesis with ds2 so have some idea of what you are feeling.
Moliere and Chipps, It's good to see you both back and posting again.
Taplady, good luck with the weigh in tonight.
alibob, you sound amazingly in control for having a newborn and a three year old....when my first two were that age I couldn't even think about housework. Try not to worry about George's weightloss, all newborns lose some weight after birth and as you said he was a very big baby.

Well I thought that I was organised this morning, but my five minutes on the pc turned into twenty and the little one ended up just getting to school in the nick of time. I've just realised that his lunch is still sitting in the kitchen so I'll have to hotfoot it around there again shortly....note to self not to come on the pc before school. Maybe I need to go and join the bad mothers thread in the arms. :o

It's a lovely sunny morning here, which is just as well as I need to get the washing dried and we still have no heat...plumber will be back sometime this week, hopefully. The fridge has packed in as well. We had our last one for 22 years and replaced it last year because it was looking shabby. This one has lasted for 11 months. Thankfully it's still under guarantee and the repair man is coming on Friday so in the meantime we are using the spare fridge in the garage but it's such a pain to have to keep running in and out every time I need some milk for my coffee.

Anyway, my main jobs for today are to clean all the windows and give the bedrooms a good dust and vaccum. There's some lamb stock simmering on the cooker so I want to think of something interesting to make with it later in the week. I'm making a lasagne for tea but that should be easily thrown together as I have the bolognese sauce already made. I'm working tonight again but it's a very easy run this week as I only have four calls and they're all quite local.

Ok, off to get started on my day....

    Take care everyone,

    Pink

    Hi Again
Ironing all done:j :j , conservatory done I (inside not the windows), bathroom in progress (DH in charge of the latter 2) just having a coffee and 5 mins on here and then will have a shower after I have put the SC on, the BM is on too, while DH catlicks the lounge and attachs our bedroom (hoover/dust). Hey on on here this is me!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know I sound like I am putting on him, but honestly he is happy and whistling while he does it. I did make him a coffe though!

Then a quick trip to Asda and (hide) sort out the balance in here and we are ship shape for the visitors. Don't expect it to last too long.

Is it me or is it colder down south, we had the gas fire on one night for a hour while watching TV after 10, but other than that no heating/fire. Or is it we're more hardy!!:D :D

Thinking about - its probably just my age:o

Taplady don't knock it if they hate it and can afford it, and you don't mind then its a win win.

    Have a lovely day

  • Just had our tea. I've been using our swiss chard (spinach to us). I made a pumpkin & chard lasagne for tea and it was lovely. Had some salad with it. Got a long email from XDIL. DGS is missing me. The little pet. He doesn't call me Granny. He calls me Ninny. DH keeps saying it's short for ninkenpoop . Very amusing, not. :D

Crazychik Well hurry up then. *waits patiently ALL night* :D
Pink Your home manual that I'm reading is great. I'm really impressed. ;)
Taplady Good luck with the weigh in.
Heavenleigh Hope the results were good.

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Good morning everyone,

I havnt been around for a bit, and im afraid i havnt been keeping up with the threads, so hope everyone is ok, and ((HUGS)) to those who need or want one.

Nothing much happening here, did take DS to the football on Saturday with 2 of his friends, and then they stayed for a sleepover - it was about 5 in the morning when they went to sleep, and im still finding bits of popcorn in strange places (i believe they had a food fight, but, bless them, they did do a stirling job at picking most of it up!)

One of the girls i look after, her brother is helping me with a bit of patio in my garden at the moment, so we cant get out there as its a bit of a building site, but will be good when its finished. Hes also going to help with some other jobs around the house, so that will be a big help when its done.

Plans for today, well i have 2 LOs here, and we might do a bit of baking in a moment, but thats about it (may do a bit of cleaning if i can find my get up and go, it really does seem to have gone this last week!!)

Oh, have had a couple of small wins this week, a tshirt and cap that say 'Full Tilt Poker' on them, and 3 childrens books, that will be perfect for DDs xmas stocking - i think my plan next year (if not this year) will def be to win Christmas!!!

    Breakfast - Weetabix
    Lunch - HM vegetable soup
Dinner - Lamb, mashed potatoes and veg.

    Have a lovely day everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
