Bob, when I'm near a Costa I walk through and check any receipts I see left on the tables. I usually find 1 or 2.

    Hey folks,

Lots of excellent MSEing going on I see!

Didn't get round to posting between work (manic last week) and mum staying. She's been shipped back off dahn sarf now. We also had a family party last night so I was trying to make a huge cake alongside entertaining mum. Was up at 6 yesterday icing the damn thing. All went a bit wrong - not my finest creation but it was tasty and people seemed to enjoy it.

OH slightly hungover today and craving pizza. Have suggested alternatives but I think he's going for it. I'm in work but also only had a couple of drinks :A so I'm all good. - have compromised by getting him a small pizza from Asda. Also remembered wedges in the freezer to go with it. Total spend £2.60. He confessed that he was planning to get a £25 meal deal "so that we would have pizza through the week". I don't want or need pizza through the week!? (or if I did, I could make it) Total saving of almost 90%!

    Today's mission
    • Reconcile spreadsheet - not sure it will be pretty (this is now Sunday night's job, once a week with OH. I would prefer to do day-by-day but this seems to keep him on board)
    • Showered in m-I-l's this morning, used her shampoo etc - done
    • Update water bill amount in spreadsheet and think about water saving as it's gone up (probably watering the garden in the summer)
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • OH wants to go for coffee after work but will not push it. May save a few pennies there - he seems too tired to think about it
    • No drink day. Am doing a bit better with this since the holiday, even with mum up. I try not to let her drink too much as she gets teary.
    • Relist ebay items. Will try to sell once more but will likely try facebook/gumtree - done
    • Gave OH a list of housework to do but not sure he'll get round to it given his general level of hangover :D
    • Have a think about lunches/dinners over the week. Lots of ingredients in but no plan - this is always a bad thing in our household.
    • Heating off
Speaking of the water bill... any tips for reducing the amount of washing I'm doing? Since we both go to the gym, it's endless. Especially OH, he can wear three outfits in a day sometimes :/

will add more if I think of it. Have a good one all

CLF I wouldn't wash clothes after every wear, even gym stuff. If I've worn them for just one class I air them on a hanger and wear them at the next class. You could buy a water butt for the garden watering?

Hi LP - thanks for your suggestions :)

Gym wear - I do wear mine again, but OH absolutely pours with sweat so probably won't smell too good even with airing :/

I do have a water butt, but can't tap into the drain pipe as we're in rental accommodation

Afternoon guys! Sorry for the late check in, I got up and had a shower and as I was getting ready my hubby surprised me by saying he would take me out for breakfast! Which was a lovely treat as I've been feeling quite down and low the last few days and Friday night/yesterday I was a bit poorly, so it was lovely to get out with him this morning, therefore not a very MSE day but tomorrow is a new week! Todays list:

    - Check bank accounts - Done, managed to move some money into my Christmas savings account!
    - Swagbucks/My Survey/Nectar Canvass
    - Teach OH how to use the babies car seat - Done
    - Put the car seat in OH's car
    - Lunch and dinner from home
    - Make OH a lunchbox for tomorrow
    - Do a load of washing - Will tumble dry because I cant hump it up the garden to put it on the line!

I think that's about it, there maybe more! Have a lovely Sunday all x

    Afternoon all :)
    Today's list:
Dealt with remaining quinces - we have enough jelly, DDs have been given some and made more jelly, so I did 2 different recipes for poached quince. One is from an Iranian cookery book that DD1 gave me for my birthday, the other one is plainer, flavoured with just lemon and vanilla, and came from the Guardian the other day. Both are very nice :) It was a bit of a job, as there was a huge bowlful and they are quite hard to peel and cut up - and I am putting off the game of tetris that will be needed to get most of them into the freezer  I will keep some out just for desserts, to go with porridge etc, and OH fancies a cheesecake, which I will investigate during the next week, but there 2 really big casserole dishes full

    Apart from that: -
Listed a couple more bits on ebay - just one small sale so far this weekend though, really slow at the moment!
    Nothing spent
No heating on downstairs till it is time to light the wood stove. Only the towel rail in the bathroom and the mini radiator in the airing cupboard allowed on, and those are strictly controlled by the thermostat
Meals from home (leek and potato soup made yesterday for lunch, YS lamb in the oven for dinner :))
Dog walk for a bit of fresh air and exercise
    More tidying
    Bit of dusting
Got postal survey stuff ready for the week ahead
Need to clean bathroom in a bit
Sort out the drawer that my plastic food containers and their lids live in - a discussion on another thread about the best ways to store them gave me an idea and I have cleaned up a plastic basket thing I found in the loft to put them in, instead of them all spilling out of the drawer every time I open it  Seems pretty obvious written down :o :rotfl:
Wrap up ebay item for posting tomorrow

    And that is about it!
  • CLF I couldnt wear my gym stuff twice - even on the spinning bike at home I get very hot and sweaty. I have a lot of gym stuff, mostly bought cheap from Primark, Lidl or Sports Direct and while I dont really like it hanging about I wait until there is enough to justify a wash. Cycling gear is different because I only have 2 pairs of winter bib tights at the moment.

I have also been known to rinse my gym stuff out in the shower while I wash myself! This works better in summer when you can get it straight out on the line to drip dry.

Had a nice weekend, catch up with some family and old friends last night, cycling with DH this morning, dog walk with DS1 this aft and then watched DS2 play footie. So not sure why I feel so fed up and miserable.

Oh and a warning light has come on on the car. Another thing to get sorted out, hope its not too costly. Just making plans for the week.

    Morning all  :coffee:
1LL - you make me feel ashamed of how little I do at the moment. I fear I have fallen a long way off the wagon at the moment. That was a fantastic haul.
    .

I'm sorry CCL, You work full time in a full on job and I don't work so have time to do bits and pieces during the week etc.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
