What small DFW things will you do this week? W/C 7/11

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all
    I'm on the red-eye to London, so debt free things for me today.
    - no spends all on work expenses
    - no fuel as on train
    - free food and drink all day
    - I'll check the market research as you often get them at train stations etc.
    - ipoll, FPL
    - order 3 for 2 toys at Argos. I'm going to sell one item to reduce the cost of the others. Just hope my cashback top up card is done in time! Left it too late.
    Think that's it for me, busy day at work to come, LP x

  • Morning all

    Had a wonderful mse weekend. Spent only £10 on church collection. Which is a good thing as I have a weekend away next week and I have a £300 spending budget on stuff. Oh yes, that is stuff. Not very mse but have saved all year. The only problem is I need nothing!

    Who knows, maybe I will return with my funds untouched... screams of laughter from me now. For sure something will catch my eye.

    Have a good week all.

    Morning all, Thanks for the start Luckypenny.

    Ziggy, sorry to hear about your loss.

    Bob, (from yesterdays thread) Yes very lucky with my jumper, I didn't even know until I got it home :) Its pink and I wouldn't usually wear pink but it was just so warm and thick that I decided to buy it for wearing around the house!

    Today's list
    * Check banking/update spreadsheets :)
    * Record car mileage :)
    * Check lucky phone :)
    * Make a sauce for some meatballs I have taken out of the freezer ( I don't even remember making them!!!) -:) in the sauce I've added a couple of burger spice sachet things out of my use up box :) also some of the diced tops of peppers from the freezer and some left over sweetcorn from yesterdays lunch :)
    * Been to the gym to make the most of my membership & filled up water bottle there twice :)
    * I'm having a fast day today which is :money: :)
    * Clean kitchen down using stardrops
    * General tidy round :)sorted out bathrooms cupboards and pulled out things that needed using up first
    * Order one more thing from amaz0n for xmas, it was something we saw in the gift shop on Saturday but I searched and found it for less then half the price instead :)
    * Need to hoover
    * Will use up a over ripe banana with some spinach, milk, hot choc powder and blitz into a smoothie for the kids after school snack :)
    * Split 4 packs of mini rice cakes got via a cashback site, into ziplock bags that the kids can take in their lunch boxes for the next 4 days :)
    * Shower but let hair dry naturally :)
    * Drink a lot of water today instead of so much coffee/tea :)
    * Cut open bottle of moisturiser to get the most out of it :)At least 3 days left in there!
    * Wash a load on 30 degree wash :)
    * Emptied out gym bag and put everything away, not showering at the gym now so need to use the things up out of that bag :) Lots of little hotel shampoo bottles/shower gels put into the shower to use up :)

    Have a good day all.

    Hi everyone

    Thanks for the kick off LP :A
    Ziggy – sorry for your loss xx

    Miraculously I managed not to buy a new car, kitchen or furniture yesterday!!!

    I did go to aldi and spent some money we don’t have (overdraft) so now rolling at minus £80 while waiting for £850 incoming this month…

    Groceries-wise we’ve decided to have a veggie week so that will help us cut costs. In saying that we got a roast chicken yesterday and we’ll have leftovers tonight (and maybe tomorrow’s lunch) so after that we are going to do lots of veggie curries/stir fries etc. Healthy, cheap and nutritious – my fave combo.

    Got a veggie HM pot noodle for lunch. :D Thanks for the tip off DNMS. :D

    OH is working tonight so good for the extra pennies :T

    I don’t think I’ll bother going out on lunch – too much temptation; too little £££ :p

    This week I do need to pick up a pressie for a family party we’re off to this wknd – bottle of booze probs…

    Oooh, found out I can downgrade my phone on 21 Nov - from £16 to £6 per month sim only - so looking forward to that saving :T

    ETA – listypops:
    Didn’t wash my hair :cool:
    Used ROK deodorant – has already lasted 3 years and no sign of running out :D
    OH dropped me off so I only need to pay for a ticket home. :A
    Cheapo porridge brekkie in work – free milk/microwave
    Washed pots for brekkie and lunch in work – no excuses come tonight/tomorrow morning :naughty:
    Free tea in work :)

    Happy Monday folks!

    Hi all,

    The holidaymaker has returned...

    I will post now and catch up with the thread in a sec. Hope everyone is ok.
    Thanks to LP for starting us off
    Congrats to Perni on your new arrival :)

    The holiday was... well... erm we got sick. So even though we did spend a fair bit (although about in budget), we were prevented from spending any more. So it was MSE sickness. It was pretty expensive where we were and not helped by the weak pound at the mo.

    Today's list:

    Good things

    • B from stores. L courtesy of mum, D, just had to pick up a couple of bits but nothing major.
    • Make a loaf for sarnies tomorrow
    • Charge phone in work
    • Crochet
    • Keep an eye on ebay stuff. I suspect that Gumtree/Facebook may be better for these items.
    • Think about how to KM my tuppaware cupboard
    Not so good
    • Mum staying so heating set to "tropical"
    Have a good one all

    Hello all,
    Thanks for starting us off Lucky Penny :)
    Sorry to hear your sad news Ziggy :(

    Think I am 'getting' something - GD has had a tummy bug (hope it isn't that :eek:) but at the moment it feels more like a cold. I hate winter :(

    Today's list, such as it is:
    Dog walks x 2
    Dog to vets for his 3 monthly check, wormer etc first thing. This is prepaid as he is a pet club member there - I pay £12 something each month, and it covers vaccinations and routine treatments etc, plus we got a discount on his neuter operation, and any food or accessories we buy there. Looking at the price of the regular flea and worm treatments (let alone the annual vaccinations), this seems pretty good value :)
    Had to go to DD's after the vets to watch little one, as DD had to go out for half an hour, and DD has been poorly (she seems ok today but didn't want to risk a car journey :eek:)
    DD gave me one of her huge pumpkin collection, so soup and pumpkin pie will be on the menu at some stage!
    Not had heating on (apart from the towel thing in the bathroom and the little radiator in the airing cupboard), despite being cold - found a thick cardigan to put on over my fleece instead! Got the wood burner alight now though :D
    Leftover mushroom soup for lunch
    Went to sales unit to tidy up, one small item had sold, better than nothing I suppose!
    Posted 4 ebay parcels
    Listed / relisted some items
    Ironing - must do this :(Done!
