Giffgaff PAYG price is 10p per text ... so ~25 texts per month is ~£2.50 so ~1/2 of what you are paying on a rolling contract. Even her unusual 51 texts in a month would have been cheaper on PAYG.blagoslovljena said:Can anyone give me a bit of advice please? My 14 year old daughter has an old iPhone of my mum’s, and a few months ago I put her on Giffgaff’s £6 per month rolling contract as she had eaten her way through a couple of £10 top-ups on their PAYG rate quite quickly, as they’re quite pricey for texts,1 -
I would never have thought to buy a sim from eBay tbh, but will definitely look into that option thanks! I take it you can’t get them direct from O2 with those call/text rates if you’re suggesting eBay?flaneurs_lobster said:There are still O2 Classic PAYG sims available on eBay for little more than postage, 3p/min calls 2p/text 1p/MB. Needs £10 top-up to activate which doesn't expire.0 -
I think the one phone call she made did the damage on the credit tbh. You’re right about the texts though. I guess I’m trying to work out the cheapest option across the providers on the O2 network generally, mainly to save cash with all the other bills going up… 😱BUFF said:Giffgaff PAYG price is 10p per text ... so ~25 texts per month is ~£2.50 so ~1/2 of what you are paying on a rolling contract. if it's still available to you (O2 & MVNOs using it seem to be trying to do away with traditional PAYG) Tesco Lite? https://www.tescomobile.com/help/usage-and-top-up/pay-as-you-go/pay-as-you-go-tariffs#tabs-3697ced6e2-item-6c12a64b90blagoslovljena said:

Could be worse, I once swapped in a new Giffgaff 5g sim and did a couple of speed tests to check out my shiny new 5g phone. Cost me something over twenty quid in PAYG data charges in about 2 minutes.blagoslovljena said:

Very quick & easy, and seems some sort of plus for the seller because mine were only 20p each despite headline price, including postage. Bargain

The seller will receive a payment from O2 (no idea how much) when the sim is activated, hence they can (more or less) give the things away.Farway said:blagoslovljena said:

3 is no longer a 'cheap' pay-as-you-go option for sure. There 1-2-3 tariff was the bees knees but then all that changed with calls 10p/min, now from 12/07/2022 it will be a whopping 35p a min - talk about 'daylight robbery'!
Maybe I'm just 'guessing' here but perhaps they're looking to exit the PAYG market by pricing themselves out of it?
Calls increase to 35p/min, 15p a text, 10p per MB of data. You have the right to exit because of these changes and refund requests pf any outstanding credit must be made no later than 17/07/2022, full details got to 3.uk/xi3

"3" RIP OFF PAYG INCREASE ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY:
I was shocked by level of this increase; how does the regulator permit? Way above inflation.
Don't hold out any hope for a refund from 3 of your unused balance by the way;
I had an online chat session yesterday, and call agent said I didn't qualify.
Also 3 provides my home broadband; asked if credit could be moved here; NO AGAIN:(
The only way to get credit transferred is to sign up to a 3 SIM Only contract.
No thanks, will let credit run down, and swap to 1P Mobile.1
