    Thanks for the pointer; I tracked down the post and examined each of the offers from the MVNOs;
I was the source of that post. I did point out that the provisioning of wi-fi calling was fraught for the consumer but I hadn't even considered that an Android update would be yet another potential stopper. FWIW, my phone (Moto G 5G Plus from Amazon on Voda PAYM) still has wi-fi calling available after the Android 11 update yesterday. No it's not in the list of supported phones on the Voda site.
  • Couldn’t you just use WhatsApp or similar?
If the only calls that you make are to other WhatsApp users and if you always have an internet connection then yes, this is an alternative to a mobile service (but you will need an active mobile sim/number to set up your WhatsApp account).

Should you want to make/receive a call to/from anyone else, mobile or otherwise, or say, the Emergency services, then you need a mobile service (which may be available via wi-fi calling).

I would like some help understanding Lebara T&Cs
I have recently opened a plan with Lebara 5GB data / month; unlimited UK Minutes & text and 100 International Minutes. Auto renew by an open ended fixed amount direct debit.
I want to ensure that I know the terms and avoid any surprises.
I have read the terms and conditions as saying that if I exceed 5GB of data before the end of the month they will just stop my internet use and not add anything to my bill.
I am presuming that UK Minutes allows me to call any UK landline or mobile but not sure how they will deal with calls I may make to premium rate numbers or calls to those organizations with back chargeable numbers. I would prefer it if those calls were blocked rather than charged for; or at least a warning / option to cancel issued before connecting to a number that will add to my bill.
I can easily find the 40 countries that are included in International Minutes but once again I am not sure if that is landline or international mobile calls or both. Or in fact calling a tourist who is in the UK but has a phone with an international number. I am also presuming that if I exceed my 100 minutes; then calls will be blocked rather than added as an extra to my bill. Also not sure about international premium rate calls.
If you know how Lebara deal with these various scenarios or have any other comment on how to avoid additional costs I would appreciate that.

You can add credit to a Lebara account to cover additional costs/premium numbers etc. If there is no credit just the direct debit then I'd expect things that cost extra would be blocked.

Have you ever asked your GP surgery, hospital, bank or child’s school to phone you via WhatsApp?

What do you think the answer would be if you did?

    Just called BT mobile 0800 800030  i have 2 sim only mobiles on network totalling £23pcm (6G - £8 / 30G - £15) which end next week.  I gave ID/Smarty deal at £15pcm (10G - £7/15G - £8). Advisor said they don't match and then offered me a PAC code.

I do also have use of the BT sport app which is handy on current sim though noticed it is not on the new BT Sim offers unless top plan....

Was there any mention of letting your current deal continue, looks pretty competitive if you're happy with the coverage, etc.

Is the BT sport app limited to the phone or is it the full-fat chromecast-able version?

Yes, my deal can continue at the same price...I worked out 12months X 23 = 276, best deal 12x 15 =180.... essentially it is how much I value the BT sport's app which is phone only.

Firstly please think carefully about putting two folk (assuming these are two 'main numbers') on a 3 based solution - it may be fine, but often it isn't.

Second look at upgrades via my BT - I have one at £5 (plus change from rises under old rules) for 3GB.  They may not match, but they do do deals.
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!
