We have just decided to dump our home broadband and landline and go with a sim router for internet. We hardly ever used the landline phone. We already had a Huawei 685E MIFI to use in our motorhome. (roof mounted 4g antenna).
Our nearest phone mast is line of sight 400m from our house and is shared between EE and 3. Current broadband is with Sky and we get speeds of approx 35GB/s and the broadband and anytime calls is £44 pm (been out of contract since August). Took the 1 month smarty deal £10 for 30GB to test the service for a few days. Have been speed testing regularly and have been getting between 45 and 70 GB/s. No external antenna - the Huawei router just sits on the windowsill in the spare bedroom plugged into a mains charger. Took the currently available unlimited data 12 month contract from 3 for 18 pm plus £50 cash back (after 3 months). Equivalent price £13.87 pm. When we are away in the motorhome we will now have choice of sims from Plusnet (EE), Sky (O2) and 3.2 -
Moral is; Always check the quality of Customer Service before switching anything. Which? provide useful information available via Public Libraries now- 27/0122- beginning to reopen at usual hours.-3

I used the deal checker on here and found I could get a Sim only deal that would work for me for £6. I'm currently paying £21 with EE. Just called EE to leave, telling them that I could get a deal for £6. They very helpfully offered me a SIM only deal for £8 per month, to include EE roaming for 12 months, and also removing the 12 month contract element (I can leave any time after 31 days with no penalty). I'm really happy with that as I've had no issues with EE and didn't really want to leave them. Total saving of £156 per year - really pleased!5

Nicely done, what deal did you get for your £8?0

My wife likes the EE coverage and she was paying EE £25 pm inc of 25GB of data. She was out of contract and saw a black Friday deal with Plusnet come up on MSE - 12 month contract costing £10 pm inc of 30GB of data and a £40 prepaid mastercard within 40 days. The card duly arrived and was used as part payment on a Tesco shop. As Plusnet is part of the BT group it uses the EE network so no difference in service.0

Mistake above - the EE bill was £20 pm with 25GB data.0

The top deal on MSE for 4-9GB is Virgin Mobile at £6 pm with £25 amazon voucher. But, 11.7% price rise comes on 1st April, which ups it to £6.70 pm. This'll cost me the equivalent of £54.70 over 12 months assuming 1 month at £6 and 11 at £6.70 and inc. the voucher.
The 2nd best is Lebara at £1.99 for the 1st 5 months then £5.90. Total cost of £51.25.
Lebara beats Virgin Mobile and it's only a 1 month contract instead of 12 months, both at 5GB and unlimited calls & texts.
Have I got this right, what am I missing?
Thanks!

Lebara are on Vodafone and offer 5G.
I had a really hostile experience with Three customer service that has put me off ever using them again. I am tempted by Smarty though as EU roaming, VoLTE, 5G, London Underground WiFi, and monthly flexibility are of interest to me.1
