The amount of mobile data being consumed is likely to collapse, most people using home wifi for next month. There will probably be some much better mobile deals coming. I'd suggest wait for them.

That deal has now vanished from the site
But Three do offer some good deals - I got an 8Gb for £8 last month
Businesses can now benefit as well http://www.three.co.uk/business-sim
They offer weird pricing though - unlimited data for just £14.17 or 40Gb for £2.50 MORE !

EE currently have 100gb for£20... Not bad for a company with decent coverage and speed
That seems to be their "Essential" plan, which is a is a cutdown service. So check you are getting everything you want. You'll probably not get VoLTE and WiFi calling.
You probably do get VoLTE and WiFi calling ;)

Biggest difference is no access to 5G and no 'swappable benefits'.

Surprised there is no mention of Vodafone's Employee Advantage Scheme, lots of companies are signed up and also gives discounts for NHS, Military and MoD employees. Gives 15% off contracts.

Vodafone have ALWAYS been a rip off and always will be - take a look at their tarrifs - £30 odd for a SIM only deal - who in their right mind would pay more than £15 for ANY SIM only deal ?
Think you're being a bit harsh here.

I pay less than £15 a month for Vodafone SIM only, 10GB data + unlimited texts/calls.

  • To bring myself into the 21st century and the constant need for a mobile number when I'm online from a desktop PC I bought myself an unlocked iPhone SE. I'm totally savvy at using the IOS after having an iPOD touch for many years but am a total newbie when it comes to mobiles.  Could I take it into a shop and have them set it up for me bearing in mind the current lockdown policies in place? Finally if I got a sim only deal does this include a telephone number.
    TIA

    Hi
    This is on their website:
"Following government guidance, we're closing our stores and our Contact Centre staff won’t be able to get to work as usual. Check out our Stay Connected page for more information on all we are doing to keep you connected." So you cannot go to a store at the moment.
iPhones are pretty intuitive.  So much so that they don't come with any meaningful instructions!  Put the sim card in, turn it on and it will guide you incredibly easily through a full set up.  Any issues and an internet search on your laptop will usually lead you to an answer very quickly.
Finally, "if" you get a sim card??  Your sim card is your phone number.  To say the phone doesn't work very well without one is quite an understatement.

  • The virgin offer shown as best sim only deal  8gb, unlimited calls and texts £8 pm is not available.
The link shows a virgin domain page but the "Grab this offer" does not work. I phoned Virgin today (20/4/20) and after a 20 minute wait for them , they advised they have had a number of calls for this offer but it is not available on their system. They suggest you go online and take the £9 offer or wait to a later date. They were not prepared to match the 3, or theTalkMobile offers.
    Again poor service from Virgin.

Unfortunately the mobile phone shops have had to close for now.
However, you might be able to find a neighbour who can help? Or if you get stuck call the mobile company helpdesk - although if you choose someone like GiffGaff you cannot speak to anyone and have to do everything via the web.
The SIMs can be a little fiddly and the iPhone takes the smallest version (nano) but take your time and set it up over a table top so you don't drop any bits. You should have received a little pin tool with the iPhone to pop the SIM tray out of the side of the phone. You have to push the pin in the little hole at the side.

Yes, when you receive a SIM you are allocated a phone number. If later you move to another mobile phone provider, you can request that the phone number is ported to your new account.
