  • Hi,

Is it possible to end my O2 contract and switch to a sim only deal with them or do I have to port my number over to another provider?

    Regards

Presuming you are out of your minimum contract term you should be able to switch to another tariff with a new minimum term.
  • I have been with Asda Mobile for a couple of years now on a SIM only basis. I buy a £5 bundle each month which gives me 500mb of data, 200 minutes and unlimited texts and this is great for me. They also have bundles for £7-£25 which give more if you need it. You can order a free SIM on their website and their coverage is provided by EE. Wish I'd discovered them years ago.

Asda doesn't offer the most competitive deal with your plan. For your £5 a month you can get 1GB data, 500 minutes and unlimited texts on ID Mobile as an example.

If they never use their current limits then they're not losing out but there's always emergency use to be considered I suppose.

That said I have 2GB data(including rollover) with unlimited minutes & texts for £4.50 a month with Sky(O2) so they can do better.

Thanks - im about to ring EE (my current provider) as its that time of year for me to renegotiate my SIM only deal (currently get 6GB data + unlimited call & text for £10.38p a month). However I only use 110mb of data so the Sky deal looks good for me (though when I went to their website your deal was coming up as £7 a month).

Either way £7 is still a saving over £10.38 :)

Yeah, it was £6 a month when I started and it was tied into your Sky TV deal(an extra £10 a month if you left). When I scheduled a cancellation for the TV(in order to force their hand ;) ) I phoned up for my PAC and they immediately removed the link to the TV and gave me a £1.50 a month discount without me even asking.

Seems to be a few deals on now, like smarty 100GB for £17. Don't need that much, currently on 4GB and looking to switch to a bit more - probably VOXI now they have 8GB for £10 or possibly plusnet 9GB for £10.

Interesting. I'm happy, as the £5 monthy bundle I have with Asda is sufficient for my needs and I never go above my allowance. Its also really easy to speak to a real person at Asda Mobile too, without jumping through hoops and they are always very helpful, but its always good to know about other good deals.
