  • What transfer problems? I used to be with them and never had any issue with them and took my number in and back out again when I left.

The issue is that many customers are not getting their numbers ported across. In my case it has been 15 days and while I can make limited calls and send and receive texts, I cannot receive any incoming calls. There appears to be a lot of people in the same situation and Plusnet seem unable/unwilling to resolve.
  • Get your porting code from EE, and switch to any pre paid number for a day. In the meanwhile order a 20gb contract on EE from fonehouse.co.uk for 22 per month with a cash back of 144, making it efffectively 20gb for 10 pounds per month. Once you get your new SIM, port back in.

    1. Get your porting code from EE
(assuming you have an EE sim or go buy one for £1 & register it)

    2. Switch to any pre paid number for a day
(this is confusing, do you means switch to any pre-paid provider - e.g. Tesco, i.e. no need to change number or is there a need to change number?)

    3. In the meanwhile order a 20gb contract on EE from fonehouse.co.uk for 22 per month with a cash back of 144, making it efffectively 20gb for 10 pounds per month.
(So the "trick is a way for existing customers who want to take advantage of this offer in the first place?)

    4. Once you get your new SIM, port back in.
(This would be porting your same number that was with Tesco in the example )

I am not sure if this a way to promote fonehouse by an employee but giving you the benefit of the doubt, (even though that offer is available elsewhere)

    HERE IS A BETTER DEAL

    You propose
    22 x 12= 264 -144 = £120 /12 = £10 per month

    I propose
    20 x 12= 240 -168 = 72 /12 = £6 per month

it is on the same page but you have to click the vodafone tab at the bottom right.

I am coming to the end of my Vodafone SIMO contract so will be looking to renegotiate

Does anyone know that as you can send a text to request your PAC do Vodafone give you a call to try and get you to stay. Normally I have gone on live chat or phoned and they haven't offered me a good deal so I have requested my PAC and then got a phone call from retentions who did offer me a deal.

My Tesco sim-only contract expires next week and I was looking around for better deals. I happened to check Topcashback and found a Sim-only deal with Virgin Mobile which has £70 cashback on a £6/month deal which includes 2GB data (with rolllover), 1000 mins, unlimited texts and free data on WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter. £6/month for that is a good deal on its own, without the cashback.

Hopefully the deal will track properly, but if it does that means I'm paying £2 for the year. That's a bit silly, right?

Anyway, go to Topcashback Virgin Mobile and scroll to the bottom. It's there.

**EDIT - Sorry I've now realised the banner was badly worded and the £70 cashback is included in the £6 deal :(

    Currently on EE

So I am currently on EE paying £15 per month SIMO Max plan for 12GB data, fastest speed available, unlimited mins/texts, free BT sport (never use it) and roaming in 5 additional countries (USA, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand and Canada, only used this once when I went to Mexico)

I have been out of contract since January and just looking around. I see Three offer 12GB for £15 but wasn't sure on their coverage and customer service. Then there is Sky offering 10GB for £10 but lack of non-EU roaming.

Is EE really the best for coverage? Not that I have had any issues with them.

EE – and their network partners like Virgin mobile - are generally thought to have the fastest download and upload speeds followed by Vodafone and then 02/Three lagging behind – which may be important if you have a high data limit and want to stream videos/tv on the move.

I can certainly testify to this when in (central) London - the mbps download and upload speeds I get on my EE sim are often 4 or 5 times what I get on o2 on my work phone and three on my personal phone. Its perhaps less pronounced in less congested areas. So it may depend where you live and work.

Of course other things may matter like international roaming outside the EU – three (for free) and Vodafone (for £6 a day) offer more generous packages which allow you to use your UK data and calls package in more countries whereas others offer no cheap roaming fees at all outside the EU (e.g. £7 per MB of data and £5 per minute for a call). Other things may matter too – such as wifi hotspots where Virgin rank highly – or wifi calling (which Virgin doesn’t offer at all but EE/Three/Vodafone (not texts)/O2/Sky do.

The simsherpa site is very helpful and allows you to compare and contrast the providers. And if you do switch – and know what sim/phone you want - its worth using topcashback or quidco to get cashback. Although based on the reviews some providers are more likely to pay the cashback promised than others!

It depends what elements of a package matter to you – Virgin (EE network) reportedly has the fastest speeds of the big players in the UK but has no wifi calling and a very poor and potentially highly expensive non EU roaming set up.

    Are you sure.

According to the website the cashback for the 2GB data sim is only £11 - or just under 2 monthly payments? £70 is for a pay paymonthly handset (phone and SIM) costing over £50 a month.

Virgin is good for speed and coverage - but perhaps not so relevant if you only have 2GB of data as you won't be able to do any streaming on that!

Or £3.50 on a 24 month O2 contract with unlimited minues/texts and a free phone on a cashback contract. Very expensive nowadays.

    £11.00

Go to the bottom of the page of the link https://www.topcashback.co.uk/virgin-mobile/
Do you see the section entitled 'Special Deals and Vouchers'?

There are 3 banners under it. The second one down says 'Get 2GB of Data for just £6 per month on a 12 month SIM only contract - £70 cashback'

Am I the only person who can see this?

And here is the page that clicking on that link takes you to:
    https://store.virginmedia.com/virgin-media-mobile/affiliates/6-for-2gb.html?awin_src=awin_mobile&buspart=uk_afl_a_mobile_na_na_AWin_direct_TopCashBack_generic&awc=6400_1571170595_2c3c79ef825a5185c2a5c803b336b1e7

**EDIT - Hang on that refers to the deal further up the page. Links to the same page. In that case, this banner is badly worded. It reads as though it's £6/month for 12 months PLUS £70 cashback. I signed up for this today Grrrr! Okay thanks for noticing that. Should I delete the post maybe?
