Morning everyone! Well done on all the losses everyone. I know what you mean joedenise about having the best intentions but then events conspire to push you off plan! Why does everything have to revolve around food and drink at this time of year!?

Feeling a lot better today - didn't end up having breakfast yesterday, had a sneaky subway for lunch and then an on plan SW bolognese for dinner. Right back on it today as I'm feeling so sluggish and need an energy boost:

    B - 2 clementines, alpen light (1/2 HEB)
L - LO Bolognese, pear, carrot sticks
D - SW Chicken saag, broccoli, green beans
    S - alpen light (1/2 HEB), apple

Trying to be as syn free as possible to make up for the bad stuff that will probably end up being consumed this weekend.

Thanks Shala - sleep was disrupted but because of littlie so I'll let her off ;) feeling much better today.

Just been told that thanks to a tax code change from applying for marriage allowance I'm getting an extra £180ish in this month's pay (no tax paid this month plus a refund) so that's a huge weight off my shoulders - I'm going to be an adult with it though and use £100 to clear my overdraft and close it (wouldn't have had it usually so shouldn't miss it) which will help me massively - the rest I will put in a separate savings account. Couldn't have come at a better time really as this month I'll finish paying the 2016 council tax so will have that money next month to put aside too (another £100) should finally be able to get on top for real. can't put in to words how much mental stress that will ease for me!

    Today:
breakfast: chocolate porridge (heb, 1/2 hea and 5 syn) with a cup of tea (milk from hea)
at work: Ribena winter spice. might have a Satsuma shortly
lunch: chow mein mugshot (free) Satsuma, mullerlight (free flavour)
afternoon: more drinks as I seem to be fighting a sniffle :) been doing so well on keeping hydrated I'm proud ha
group for weigh in. I might stay tonight as I haven't for a few weeks. I *should* have lost something this week and I want some tips for a few events.
will take some pasta bake to group - I will heat it at home and keep it in one of my lunchboxes that keeps things hot longer :)

going for a walk at lunch as I need to pick up my engagement ring (been off getting cleaned and replated) and also need to look in the works and menkind. oh and Debenhams :)

  • Congratulations Lois on SOTW, and well done to everyone losing and getting close to target at this time of year!

It's star week for me so I'm hoping just to STS or have a small loss this week. I'm another one who isn't smashing her targets at the moment but I feel positive about things as I feel I have stopped the yo-yoing and am now on track for some steady losses. My clothes feel looser and AT LAST my face looks a bit slimmer - HALLELUJAH!!! :D

Welcome MrsShazbat - I second the idea of joining at a class and getting all the books etc. It will be super quiet this time of year.

:T on your loss midge. That's brilliant for this time of the year.

I'm sure your little unexpected windfall counts as a NSV lush. Now your finances look more sorted then you'll be able to do your meal plan and shopping with SW friendly high on the list.

I didn't go to WI this morning although I am feeling quite slim. I'd like to try and get one more WI in before Christmas then I can have a break to recover from Christmas gains.

I'm planning to have last portion of soup from freezer today too wiz.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk
L: lentil soup, small ham salad
D: chicken stir fry with noodles or rice
Syns: honey in stir fry and maybe in noodles (not sure which ones are in the cupboard)

    Hi all

Another rainy day here and no social events planned so I'm going to get the Christmas decorations out this afternoon, it doesn't feel right to be decorating when the sun is out so it's probably the best day to do it! It used to be a tradition that putting the tree up would be accompanied by sherry and mince pies but thankfully I don't have either. I'm another one that went a bit overboard with wine Syns last night and I had some peanuts and pretzels, so today is going to be alcohol free. We're out tomorrow night but I'm driving so no wine again for me. We're having a 'Strictly Soiree' on Saturday so I'm saving Syns for that.

Welcome to the thread MrsShazbat, you've done the right thing by starting SW before Christmas, it doesn't have to spoil it for you but you could avoid a sizeable gain by making sensible choices.

Well done Midge, that's a great loss. Interesting that you haven't had rice or pasta - I definitely think pasta has a negative impact on my weight and try to limit the amount I eat.

Lush - great news re the tax rebate, that's happened just at the right time for you with Christmas coming. :j

I had chilli planned for dinner but I've just remembered the mince is still in the freezer so I might have to rethink that plan! I went shopping yesterday and bought stewing steak so I might do a casserole instead using the HB braised steak recipe.

    Have a good day.

yes definitely. I'll have a real picture of how much I have available etc rather than just burying my head and praying! got to stock up on meat sometime whilst I've no council tax to pay as we're basically out and the 3 for £10 isn't really all that great value for chicken etc. not for us anyway. I'll buy a tray of chicken breast from makro and then mince from Iceland and burgers (sw for me/non sw for hubs and little one). Bacon, sausages, gammon slices and whole chicken/small joints all come from asda generally as I find their quality and value best.

Going to try and make a plan later/Saturday...maybe whilst I get my hair done haha

Welcome to the thread Mrs Shazbat. You have absolutely done the right thing by joining before Christmas which hopefully means you will do a bit of damage limitation over the festive period.

Well done to all the losers and STSers this week and commiserations to those who gained when they weren't expecting to.

LLS A great NSV for you this month and you'll get a bit extra each month too. I think you're right not to just use the extra on "this and that" and to really think about what to do with what is left after the OD is paid off. My DH is only getting state pension at the moment so applied for the Marriage Allowance and I received my new tax coding recently and an extra £80 with my works pension at the end of November and there will be an a little bit extra each month now.

I went to WI this morning feeling quite optimistic that I'd got a loss but was absolutely gobsmacked when it was 1.5lb! Far more than I was expecting. I'm now back in target range :T and will now not be weighing again until probably 2nd week in January when I've had a chance to lose a bit of the Christmas and New Year gain:rotfl:.

This is getting to be a bit of an essay so I'd better just post my plan for today:

    B - grapes after WI
L - butternut squash soup; slice of bread with scrape of butter; slice of bread with Marmite - HEB + 2
D - LO mince & veg hotpot thingy; butternut squash wedges

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - Lurpak Lightest 2; not sure what else

:T that's a brilliant loss denise. Well done! I'm sure being good catches up with us so you're probably benefitting from the reining in more than you expected.

Don't forget to try the Sainsbury's BGTY quarter pounders lush. They're really meaty and I can't imagine your DH wouldn't like them. They're 25p cheaper per pack than SW too.
