Not had a brilliant week so going to try an SP day today to try to limit the damage before WI tomorrow!

    Plan is:

    B - boiled eggs; soldiers HEB1
    L - carrot & lentil soup
D - shepherds pie with swede & carrot mash top; cabbage - will make DH a standard shepherds pie

    HEA - Milk
    HEB1 - bread
HEB2 - either some toast or Salted Caramel Hifi bar this evening.

Syns - 1 laughing cow on bread this morning 1 syn

    Morning all

Well I've made it to Day 2 of 7777, having managed a whole day without any alcohol despite winning a bottle of brandy and 2 bottles of wine at a quiz last night (and we came 2nd). :D

We're entertaining tonight but I'm going to stick to slimline tonic and pretend it's got gin in it, and just have a nightcap of brandy using all 7 Syns.

We checked out the supermarkets yesterday and they were all closed apart from Aldi so we got a few bits to keep us going for a few days. Aldi had lots of very tempting Christmas goodies but I resisted them all. I noticed some mini panettone which I quite like the look of - if they're not too high in Syns I might get one, then share it with friends so I can get away with having a small piece and not be tempted by leftovers.

There was a posting in my SW Facebook group about choosing whether to be Holly, Ivy or Laurel at Christmas.

Ivy gives herself permission to forget about SW altogether and has whatever she wants, accepting she could have a huge gain afterwards.

Holly keeps track of Syns and uses flexible Syns to stay in control.

Laurel sticks to plan and keeps flexible Syns to a minimum.

I'm going to be Holly, what's everyone else's strategy for coping with the big day and everything else this season?

Really pleased after our trip to Scotland where I had waaaay too many syns in pro secco and cheese. Seems the jeans and boots worked last week as I went in the same clothes but took my ugg boots off to get weighed.
Lois I think I'm probably an Ivy. I Hoover it all up and worry about it later :D not ideal in any way!
I've got a thing for warm salads at the moment. Lunch is chicken, peppers and onions on a bed of peppery leaves. Dinner tonight is HM burger with a portabello "bun" Sw chips and more salady bits.
Hope you enjoyed you trip Iantanna. It sounded idyllic.
    Be back later.

Eeeek sorry for going MIA everyone - had a lovely weekend away (put on 2.6lbs in week 5 by the way) and since I've been back, work has been manic. Currently away on a conference and trying very hard to stick to plan. Will hopefully be back next week with a loss, but can't guarantee it.

:T to lantanna and midge on your losses.

Glad to hear you're feeling better topgirl and congratulations on your quiz result lois, prizes seem very generous in Spain. Do come back and tell us about Donegal lantanna.:)

Fortunately I haven't bought in any Christmas chocolate yet so it was just half a bar of Aldi's 70& (about 12g).

Tonight we're going to have sweet potato mash for a change. I've never made it before as I usually do chips/wedges. I've googled a few recipes and some suggest mixing with potatoes or carrots, possibly adding some cumin. I'll have to think about that. Any advice?

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB porage with HEA milk
L: bacon, tomato, mushroom and spring onion omelette with pickled cabbage
D: gammon slices, sweet potatoes, cabbage, peas
Syns: none planned, I'll see if the chocolate gets to me;).

Maman - I've never mixed anything with sweet potato when I've mashed it. I would have thought mixing it with carrot would make it very sweet as they are both sweet in themselves.

Had mashed swede on the top of my shepherds pie rather than swede & carrot mash as was a bit later than usual starting dinner and didn't get round to do it earlier enough! Even DH liked the swede topping (after pinching some from my plate!). Will definitely do it again.
