Weighed in yesterday morning and nobody knew that our consultant was off, so we had a stand in and I can't stand this woman - luckily I wasn't planning on staying anyway, as I had to get into town and get a couple of Xmas presents. Was not happy as the scales showed a half pound gain. I'm sure that happened the last time we had a different consultant.

I am hoping it will level out next week when the usual consultant is back, but as a result I felt totally unmotivated yesterday and ate some things I shouldn't have! Am so close to target now as well.

I have a meal out tomorrow night and Friday afternoon (both Carveries so should be ok).

I need some motivation here, am finding it hard as there's so much nice food around as it's close to Christmas!

Have a good week all x

Good morning ooh! It's a cold cold day today,it makes you feel quite miserable. Anyway, I have lost almost 1lb the pointer was hovering just below the lb mark , so, I will count it as a whole pound. Sorry it'/ not red and bold Shala. That over and done with .now my menu for today Sunday.:)

    Breakfast.. porridge A/B raspberries, blueberries.

Lunch. Lentil and bacon soup.ham salad sandwich 6 Syns 2 clementines.

Dinner. HB braised steak, potatoes, carrots, few green beans, couple sprigs
Cauliflower corn. Gravy 2 Syns melon.

    Extra 2 Ryvita 3 Syns
    11 Syns. :D:D

:T pleased you had a loss wiz.:)

If you use the Hairy Bikers' recipe:drool:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/braised_steak_with_gravy_24508

then you can add onions to your Speed list (and I add some mushrooms too). If you and MrWiz share a teaspoon of cornflour then I'd ignore the syns in the gravy. And I thought you'd progressed to 3 sprigs of cauliflower!;)

Not tried them yet but got them in freezer for Christmas Day :D
Love sprouts and kale so hopefully will love these. Hubby will cook them just like sprouts i.e. Fried with bacon mmmmm

    They sell them in sainsbobs.

Sprouts are probably the one vegetable I really don't fancy although I will cook a few for DH on Christmas Day. I had a bag of YS kale a couple of weeks ago, was OK but much prefer cabbage. If they're waiting for me there'll be plenty of kalettes left in my Sainsbury's!:)

I noticed a new chiller cabinet had appeared in my Aldi this week with a Just Tasty range of snacks like salads, sushi and wraps. There's a ham hock, egg and potato salad at 1.5 syns, marinated chicken salad at 2 yns and sushi fairly low syn but beware of things like prawn salad at 20.5 syns! As you'd expect, the prices were excellent compared with Pret or M&S so good idea for a lunch on the go if you have an Aldi near you.

ETA: It's a shame when you don't like the stand in consultant abbafan. The one we have is excellent and I'd go to her regular group but as it's on a Monday morning it wouldn't suit me after a synful weekend. You're right Christmas is a difficult time to be losing weight. It's the nibbles that get to me rather than proper food IYSWIM. I've deliberately stopped myself buying any crisps or chocolate marzipan or chocolate ginger (although I've looked longingly:() as I know they'd just call to me from the cupboard. In some ways you're better not being at target just before Christmas as you won't be limited to the 3-6lbs window for gains. Enjoy your carveries and (like I said to wiz the other week) beware of the monster Yorkshires!

I've portioned up my lentil soup and the braised red cabbage for the freezer and kept out some of each for today.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast
L: lentil and veg soup and maybe a few bits of meat and pickles if I'm hungry
D: JO pork on veg trivet with SW roasties, broccoli, red cabbage, green cabbage, swede & carrot mash
Syns: gravy (probably very synful because of removing pork fat after cooking), wine syns:D

Not a great week for sticking to plan however developments this week may mean the stress I'm under may lift sooner than expected which can only be good news for staying organised and on plan.

OH is going to join me in losing weight in the new year so there will be less temptation in the kitchen and no more having to compromise on SW recipes.

    This week [/1lb Loss[/COLOR]
So stillgoing in the right direction. Total loss so far 9.5 pounds

Back on plan today as planned! Weekend wasn't quite as synful as I'd expected as I chose fairly wisely but still definitely more syns than "allowed".

    Today's plan:

    B - bacon, egg, beans & mushrooms
    L - 4 original Ryvita (HEB); 2 with ham and cucumber; 1 with 12.5g pate (2 syns); 1 with 10g blue cheese (1.5 syns); 10g butter 4syns
D - HB beef; with added onions, mushrooms, carrots; mashed potatoes, cabbage

    HEA - 300ml 1% milk

    Syns as above; wine

  • Can you slow cook the hairy biker's recipe - it sounds lovely but to fit in with life's little trials I'd have to slow cook it.

Went out yesterday ended up having a curry with half & half but drank soft drinks ( even though I wasn't driving) and had a white coffee instead of dessert so there was so damage limitation going on!

Having a Asian ginger beef with Boi Choy stew. so that's relatively syn free as well.

    Afternoon all

Well it's raining here (again) so we're having a quiet day, currently with feet up, watching an old film on TV and feeling thankful that there's no synfull treats around as all the Christmas adverts are making me want them.

Went out for lunch earlier to a carvery and struck to meat and vegetables, including cauliflower and broccoli cheese which I'll count as an HEA and HEB and add some Syns. I didn't have room for any pudding and I think it's going to be a while before I want to eat again, bit like how you feel after Christmas dinner!

Gettingthere - I haven't cooked HB braised steak in the slow cooker but I think it would be fine. You might need to reduce the gravy a bit to thicken it before you serve it.

Chocomonsta - I haven't heard of kalettes and I don't expect to see them here in Spain, I have a job to find normal sprouts and I do miss them. They probably grow them here, but they'll be for the export market not the locals.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

I think it's a great idea to start now. Welcome:). If you go to the bar above the first post and click on 'Thread Tools' there's an option to subscribe. Are you joining a club? Going it alone? Any experience of SW before? Just ask for anything you need to know.

We'll have to send you some or, better still, I'll bring them over personally!:D

Well done for being restrained at the carvery.

HB steaks seem popular today! I've never made it in the SC. When I'm pushed for time I cook it in the morning or the day before then reheat and thicken on the hob while the vegetables are cooking. If you had a stew and sear SC that goes on the hob it would be fine Why not experiment in the SC and if it doesn't thicken then tip it into a casserole/saucepan and put it on the hob.
