Congrats on being SOTW, Emmylou and RJ!
Welcome to our newbies and get well soon gien.
Well done to everyone hitting their targets and commiserations to those struggling a bit - that was me last week so I know how demoralising it is.
Joedenise do you have a recipe for your leek and potato soup please? I won the raffle last week at class and one of the items was a rather large leek!
This week I have reduced my syns to between 5 and 10 and gone completely back to basics with the plan (I'm treating it like it's my first week) and it seems to be working - I'm hoping to record a 4lb loss on Saturday so we'll see if it works...
lantanna I either skip taster sessions or just don't eat anything. I'm a bit funny about eating other people's food (not family and friends, just people I don't know well) and I'd rather save the syns for something I really enjoy.0 -
I love the tasters.
Well I just love food.
I like trying things I wouldent make myself.
I am not looking forward to weigh in tonight.
Will be over target.

Hi all - I made a really lovely spag bol last night with LOADS of speed in it (500g 5% mince, one large onion, two red peppers, a full punnet of mushrooms and 3 tins of tomatoes...with various spices and stock) it made loads so I've got half frozen to take out for Tuesday when I go to Spanish class and don't get home till late.
I also cooked tonight's tea - we call it one pot chicken...it's chicken legs (skin and fat removed) thrown into a tray with 4 red and yellow peppers cut into big chunks, with three red onions done the same and a head of garlic!! Roast in the oven till tender - stir around a bit from time to time - it's delish! Will have it with a few baby boils, cauliflower, brussels and green beans.
I'm the same about tasters...wouldn't touch it with a barge pole...to be hones I don't bother staying to group...it's not really going to change how I manage in the week.
Danger ahead - two meals out coming up...Saturday for my sister's birthday and Monday when MrGFB's brother and his wife are visiting from USA and the whole family is getting together...will probably aim for steak and salad or chicken escalope for both meals.0 -
Am I the only weird person that actually doesn't like Tasters at group? I'm not overly fussed on eating other peoples food and then I think if I am going to eat syns and things I'd rather choose them myself. Again I am weird but I hate it when they announce its taster week lol.
I have visions of you peering out from behind boxes and boxes of Green Tea. Good luck with getting through it!:rotfl:
I don't enjoy taster sessions either. They've never really taken off at my early morning group and there always seems to be lots of sweet stuff that doesn't interest me at all, especially at that time of day. As I go infrequently I rarely know that it's happening so I just leave at that point as I haven't contributed anything.I don't know about the sausage they are just sausage. And the Crustless bread I only have two slices, I didn't know I could have 3
I am a B short today, can I have some canned mandarin orange segments for a B ?
Sausages vary massively in syns so you need to know the brand and with butchers ones it's difficult to tell. I have the Sainsbury's BGTY Cumberland sausages at 1 syn each. The SW sausages in Iceland are free. Generally speaking, the higher the meat content the lower the syns.
Mandarin oranges don't appear on the HEB list. You could count the Ryvita as your second HEB and then syn the mandarins (about 3 for 100g in syrup or 2 in juice). There may be some chocolate syns that creep in too.... (and out of interest) how many syns would you allow for Hotel Chocolate (Chocolates) (in particular the Florentines that they sell) (I bought some so could have one or two after weigh in but would like to know how best to syn them).
I can't find Hotel Chocolat online but (generic?) Florentines are 5.5 syns each. Well done for sticking to plan FE.:T
I've had my lightest SW breakfast (HEB Puffed Wheat with HEA milk) and that's probably where it'll end for today. We're out for lunch then football tonight. I probably won't feel like dinner (often have 3 courses with this group of friends) so half a Crunchie will suffice. Back on plan tomorrow.:)0 -
I think we are very lucky at our class.
It is very social & we all get on well.
So the tasters are good funI am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Morning all
I don't enjoy taster events either. I'm veggie so there's not much choice for me. That said I didn't know about this week's one as I was on hols last week. I was breastfeeding the baby when everyone went up for food so wasn't gonna have anything but loads of people offered to fetch me a plate so I had a few bits, mainly fruit though!
Meals today:
B - porridge heb with milk hea and grated apple. 1 syn for sugar. (loving porridge at moment!)
L - jacket spud with cheese 2 x hea and salad.
D - quern sausages 2 syns, mash potatoes (3syns for butter), veg, gravy 2syns.
Snacks - fruit
8 syns planned and still have a hea and heb to use up somewhere.* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *
* Slimming World follower (I breastfeed so get 6 hex's!) *

They sound like great meals gfb and brilliant idea to plan ahead for next week.:)
I try to keep a range of Speed in the fridge and use them, like you have, to conjure up tray bakes. It works well with sausages as an alternative to chicken. Tomatoes, mushrooms, courgettes and aubergine work well alongside the onions and peppers.
As well as making it go further:money: I think Bolognese tastes better full of Speed. I always add diced carrot and bits of courgette if I have any.0 -
I'm on my 2nd cup of green tea today lol Maman.
There are 3 boxes and several random sachets!! What is in my house is probably x 10
Interesting the different views on tasters! Personally I'd rather eat something I really want too than eat something just to be polite lol
You must have a lovely group Beanie!
I oven roasted some butternut squash cubes last night with a bit of red onion and have them with me today to thrown into my salad.0 -
Ours is a lovely group lantanna.

Letting the side (and myself ) down this week with a 1.5lb gain
But I'm sick of being annoyed at myself so for the umpteenth time I'm going back to basics and writing everything down - aiming for a full week on plan. I've just bought a new notebook and some pretty pens to keep track of everything so no excuse now. I've been losing and gaining the same 5lbs for months now and it's getting silly. Maybe I need to hire someone to follow me around and slap all of the bad foods out of my hands :rotfl:
Anyway well done you losers and SOTWs :T
Today's menu:
B - porridge made with milk, apple, cinnamon & a squirt of honey (1 syn)
L - Shapers Moroccan chicken cous cous salad (4 syns), melon & grapes
T - savoury mince, JP, cabbage & leeks
Feeling rather bloated today so will try and keep to low syns
Happy Thursday everyone
