  • Seaside - I have never brought personalised cards for kids. To be fair the only adult who gets a personalised card is relative (he is kind of DH's step-dad but not) so I like to get him a nice one to show we care (as no one else does).
Too be honest I rarely send many cards nowadays, I just can't be faffed.

Today was a NSD so that takes me to 5 for the week - military style and 19 for the month.

Need next week to be NSD's to pass military - am hoping I can do it.

Well done everyone - you have all done fab this month. It doesn't matter if you have only achieved part of what you wanted, its the taking part and the considered spending which shows a change of mindset that matters.

xspender - I have a bay window in my lounge and that is where our Christmas tree goes. I particularly like to go outside and look at it through the window - my family and friends think I am odd for that, I even do it when the fire is on and I'll say it looks so cosy in there:rotfl:. Your day today sounds lovely.

That is exactly what we did, DH even took a photo from the outside!:rotfl:

Today has worked really well and we have had a lovely day even if we did have to nip to h0mebase for another set of lights.

Dog has had a long walk and a bath, house is decorated, DH has done some ironing and DS has been bathed and is in bed.

We also found some quite valuable football memorabilia in the loft left by the previous owners in with a load of all kids stuff. There kids were nearly 30!

DMIL is coming up tomorrow to help us clear the mountain of washing and ironing as I am away again for a couple days. I am a bit annoyed as if DH kept us with it (its his only job at home really) she wouldn't need to.

Elephant lucky you having Turkish food. That's one of my faves.

Toni's friend I don't do cards that say things on them anymore. At one point I was spending around £20 at Christmas just to make sure the grandparents got cards that said Nana whatever from my son, then I'd send one that said Mum separately. I did get my husband a father card from the kids for his birthday but I won't at Christmas. Cards really are a spectacular con aren't theh, we pay several pounds for something that goes into the landfill in a very short period if my own behaviour is anything to go by. I keep one card or less per birthday and none at Christmas. All that paper going straight to the bin is terrible really isn't it.

Dolly Great bargains. And your and Xspenders trees sound wonderful.

Well the day was underwhelming takings wise. I made £100 across the two days once costs were deducted. But the clients had an amazing event and made rather a lot. So they were very pleased. And I have come away with around 5 new contacts who want to talk about using the place.

DH had managed to keep up with the human mini whirlwind, & taken both of the children out, fed them etc.

    Putting feet up!

  • Morning all,

With it being the Black Friday Weekend, I didn't manage a NSD however today-Wednesday which will give me 19/20. Close.
  • Good morning, sorry for my usual weekend absence. Glad to be in work just now. peace and quiet form the wild child. DS is a rather calm child (or he can be) whereas DD is like a Dur@cell bunny that doesn't have an off switch. Fun but draining.

Did I hear someone put their christmas deco up. Here too :xmassmile. The small stuff (miner&angel, pyramid, smoke man ect. mostly traditional German from my home region) go up on the 4th advent whereas the tree goes up 12 days before (my mum used to wait with the tree till Christmas eve) :xmastree:. Xspender quite jealous of your bay window and fire. Our tree goes on top of the coffee table that has been pushed to one side of the living room so the kids have room to play (their one bedroom is too teeny to play in)

Bob sorry to hear you having a hard time an DH being a typical man, not seeing the obvious. How often does my OH say there is nothing to eat but the freezer and fridge are still half full. Friday mornings I strip the beds to let them air during the day and then put new covers on at night. He asked me last Friday, did they need done? I said, no I do that every Friday. His response, oh really. Yes, mate for the last 5 years at least

We also don't do personalised cards here (I think OH buys one for his dad but that's it), but I try to make most of my cards this year. Still had blank red or green cards left over and use a button patter that looks like baubles. So no expense apart from stamps later.

Did the big shop on Sat and got some sweets and one little toy to fill the kids advent calendars.

Off to catch up on the rest I missed form the weekend.

    Hi all.

I reigned in the personalised card buying a few years ago, I used to spend about £10 on family cards plus regular cards. Now I just buy for our parents and everyone else gets a normal card out of the pack.

  • Morning all - back to Monday for a rest after a weekend of drama exams and swimming gala's. Spent so long in the poolside "sauna" (think hard bench at the edge of a pool with the heating on max) that I think I may have dropped a dress size - I can live in hope! Two spend days over the weekend. Not sure how this week is going to go - I'm out two nights for meeting and a course so need to leave hubby friendly grub, then more swimming next saturday. Will ponder...

Re better halves - if I need him to pick up something from the supermarket on the way home I add the item to a basket and then send him a picture of the whole basket so he can see the item - it means I actually get the shopping I want ;)

    Love to all, LAGL xx

living the goodlife that's an upside :)

Thrifty oh on the beds thing........I'm curious what is a smoke man? I will be at risk of being sexist and for which I apologise. But DS at 8 already has 'man look' in his vocab as he's heard me so many times say ' did you have a look, or just a man look' when hunting for belongings that are right there!

So today I paid £60 off the card which was what I had left of the eBay cash after making good all my business bills. As I came home with tonnes of food another poster Verbatim on another thread has recommended I convert my saved food budget money for CC repayment. So I am going to do that this week too. I think I worked out we spend £7.75 per day on groceries so I will pay that off each day till I need to shop again :)
