  • Hi everyone

Another 2 sfd as I haven't been out, but today will be.
    14/13 sfd hooray!!!!!
Xmas cards, I stopped buying Xmas cards for work and neighbours a few years ago (not at work now) and make the immediate family ones, usually xstitch as I'm not very good paper crafting. But I do give the money I would have spent to charity, we started it one year at work and I've been doing it ever since.

December should be manageable for me ad I'm only cooking Xmas dinner for three!!!! And most presents have been bought

    Hi all.

DD had her braces fitted this morning. At the dentist recommendation I bought their orthodontic kit for £8, if we need to top up any of the items in it I will just buy them elsewhere as it would appear they are making a healthy profit out of this.

On the way home I called for dog food and saved £3.65 on it which will go towards the above spend. Tonight I need to fill my car up as I didn’t do it at the weekend as planned.

We had a thick frost overnight and it is a lovely sunny day now. I am going to get some bread on the go and then go for a run.

Looking positive for NSD today - and it's 5:2 day as well so brought in my hard-boiled eggs for breakfast and have ate my apple lunch! - chicken broth tonight.

NSD yesterday. Exercise achieved yesterday (walk when doing afternoon school run) and today (Zumba) Today was not SFD - spent £7.50 on lunch out with Zumba class, £5 on collection for Zumba teacher and OH had to pop into Tesc0 as the small 2 need oranges to take to scout group this week and he also bought a bag of popcorn as we are looking to go to cinema tomorrow (already have vouchers and will take popcorn from tesc0 and bottle of water, so no spending hopefully required)

My first attempt has been rubbish
The car needed two new tyres after its service on Last week.
But it has made me very aware of things.
I don't know how I will cope in December but I will follow along and see.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • Not a NSD, but actually saved over £100 by upgrading my phone. 3 are doing a 'get 3 months free' on new phones, and I downgraded my plan as I never use all my minutes. Therefore monthly cost £3 cheaper for 24 months, and a phone with 16 rather than 8GB which I was expecting to have to pay a lot more than £19 for. I think I should be able to get about £50 for the handset once I've set everything up as well. Result.

Wnot get a NSD tomorrow as I have running club. But I'm coming in WAY under budget for most things, so even if I don't manage my total NSD's as military, I'm not going to beat myself up.
    Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18
    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • E_E - we get soya milk from aldi for a good price. Have you tried it?

I am an almost hardcore civilian, with 20 NSDs thanks to the suggestions of setting a separate budget for when I am up at mum's, or spot food for dd. However, I seriously underestimated both those categories, so will increase them accordingly.

I had my usual not-very-sociable month! Dh and I have been out for a few coffees in starbux, where they cost £1, to have some time together, which has been invaluable and well worth it.

My exercise has increased and included a total of 6 long walks, 3 runs and 3 workouts. I managed 19/20 sugar-free days, did Headspace 13/20 times (oops), and my shoulder exercises just 10/20 times (double oops). By tomorrow I will have taken 4 of their re-bags to the Salvation Army, and I have been to mum's the planned twice.

I am now back doing my 'full' hours at work (2 days) and seeing a counsellor once a week. Today I was able to pay £400 off the mortgage, which equates to 1/3 of our joint take-home pay so am well chuffed :D.

Thank you for the challenge Thrifty!

NSD yesterday but spent today. Needed to get cough medicine (cough is driving me nuts and spent all last night propped upright). I know that wouldn't have counted but was down to the last wrap and bought a few other bits including snowman kitchen rolls (to cheer me up) and a present.

Love the challenge of only spending on 2 days of the week, it has been really helpful. However don't want to go shopping at all and dread the December shops, so as I was in a shop I don't visit very often, I bought everything I need from them - no return visits before the new year.

Bought white bread barm cakes, sandwich meat and yoghurts - have been making do without for several days. It was late when I went out and shops were beginning to close, so some 'convenient' choices that mean I don't need to go out again later. Returned most of my library books and got info on when the rest are due back (some were due on Thursday but they were in the returns). Still have enough in the travel budget if I need to bus hop tomorrow and Thursday but may need an all day ticket (thinking carefully about all the places I need to be).

Today I am grateful for filling the bins (more unpacking has been done and lots of tidying), that DS3 is becoming a good chinchilla daddy (fed them and rounded up the two escapees) and that I stayed on my feet even thoguh the bins and the floor were frosted over (put my coat on for the first time this year).
