  • Hi all :coffee:
Had a day off the internet yesterday, getting caught up on school work, housework and a bit of crochet. Bagged myself a nsd after Friday's shop (the £43 is 2 adults and 2 kids Thrifty - L1dl has turned out to be a real life changer for me) and am pleased I didn't have too much to do because the weather has been utterly vile. Winter has arrived, complete with sleety showers and lots of cold winds. I was wrapped up, heating on and still under a blanket as well.
Mothernerd - beloved's family sound like a nightmare to me. I hope that the chinchillas (and her as well of course) will be settled and happy at your place. We have a boy at school with a major disability, and his mother has compensated for that by putting no boundaries in place for him at all. As a result he does what he wants, when he wants and no consequences.
Hopefully today will be another nsd - I'm off to my mam's for some tlc and a free lunch.
  • Wow Mothernerd that child sounds horrid, hope the chinchillas and beloved have settled in well now.

Just seen the weather outside and have decided regardless of family requests they can make do with something else from the cupboards so another NSD on top of yesterdays to report.

    Food 29.61/£285
    Travel 39/£185
    Xmas /200
Entertainment 14.4/100 (built into mini break & Xmas shopping, budgeted & Planned, hotel already paid for)

    NSD 3/13

Planning another civilian week next week, and tomorrow is going to be our weekly shop. Think i am going to pick up my cross stitch and do a bit more while snuggled on the sofa with catch up TV. YS pork for tea.

Have a wrapped up warm Sunday all.

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
    Afternoon All :)

Another NSD here today. I've spent most of the morning in the kitchen. I made some vegan brownies, cheese and onion pasties and falafel.
I still have a list to work though, of things i want to batch cook, but i'll get to those later on in the week.

I've made a debt in the huge washing pile, hoovered all downstairs and also cleaned up the kitchen after it looked like a bomb had gone off (post-batch cooking, you know how it is!).

crazy cat lady- an internet free day sounds lovely, i really should do it more often! And so should my kids! I think i'll start introducing in as a regular thing. Thanks for the idea!

Raphael- i hope you have a nice day of scrabble and fun. I love a good game of scrabble, but the kids aren't so keen on being beaten all the time ;)

I am pondering about having a military week next week....

    Have a great Sunday all!

I am having a lazy day. DS3 and Beloved are unpacking but doing things in the wrong order (IMHO) so have left them to it. As long as things get done, it doesn't matter. I had a little hold of one of the new chinchillas today but she was trying to get away so handed her back.

My kitchen is covered in boxes. We have at least 6 new kitchen gadgets, most of which I don't have a clue about. I have suggested packing my plates, cutlery, pans etc away and using 'theirs' but Beloved said she didn't want to 'evict' me from my own kitchen. Think it would be the smart solution as don't think there is room in the cupboards for all the duplicates. I would get a 'new' kitchen now and have the joy of unpacking my stuff when they leave (maybe 6 years?).

I have moved a couple of things but a lot involves bending down so will do it in stages - may be living off sandwiches for the week.

Today I am grateful for the weather turning quite peaceful (was a bit fierce this morning), for chinchillas to hold and cuddle and for Beloved sounding quite happy. NSD no 5.

Thank you for all your kind words. Part of me thought I shouldn't say anything but I sort of had to share in order to distance myself from it.

    Sfd 5/13

The cleaning didn't get done this morning so will have to finish that tomorrow. I have been looking at the recipes on OS thread and I'm going to have a go at a few as I have most of the ingredients in, I'll let you know how I go on.

Had a long walk. Weather here is cold and crisp and clear. The trees in the park were gorgeous.

Spent some money on veg and fruit and bits for son's packed lunches but the budget's doing well. Also bought two birthday cards. Have a supply at home but wanted something a bit special for the best cousin ever and a very special lady who is celebrating her ninetieth birthday at the end of the month. Wish I was as clever as some of you folks and could make my own, It's nice to give something personal.

Have caught up on all washing and ironing so far, Have changed the bedding and ticked a couple of small things off my list. Unfortunately when I tick something off something else gets added.

Hope you are all well and enjoyed your week-end.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

I made curried parsnip soup today. Having told you all to use 2 tsp cumin, turns out the recipe says 2 tsp garam masala + 1/2 tsp chili powder. Apologies!

The mango ice cream I mentioned a while back consisted of coconut milk (made my own with cream coconut), plain yoghurt and mango puree. Next time, I shall dispense with using the ice cream maker (it just takes up too much freezer space) and use Jack's method of mix it all, freeze for 1 hour, mix again, put in a clingfilm-lined container, freeze for 4 hours. For dd's consumption, I shall try just mango puree and coconut milk.

Week 2 of my phased return, and I shall be doing mon + tues until lunchtime. Am rather nervous about it...

Mothernerd - glad to hear that beloved is in with you and seems to be settling in. Hope having extrabodies around the place goes smoothly.

mothernerd i second all thoughts here about Beloved and the incident. Glad she's safe with you now.

Soup making day here too. Yellow split pea and bacon in SC just now, potato soup later.

Also used my second spend day today for a top up shop.

Thanks for all your replies to my post about DH on Friday. I did a lot of thinking since then and had a few LBM since then. I need to address some of my own issues first. Like being angry with DH to spend loads of money on booze but quite happily drinking it myself. Talk double standards. Had a bad day yesterday after drinking and smoking too much on Friday (i also realised that those things are one reason for my mood swings, enjoying it and then regret etc). So I start with myself and then work on DH. So I'm about to finish my second smoke free day. And an hour ago DH offered to get some drinks and i declined and asked for lemonade. Next week is all about to do as i preach and follow the military rules to the letter.

    apple muchner good luck tomorrow

    Have a good night

I still liked it Apple muncher! And second the good wishes for next week!

Today was a spend day. I had to pick up a couple of bits that were missed out of my recent Tesco delivery plus bananas, toms and milk for next week. I also picked up a few things for Christmas from Factory Shop - stickers book down from £12.99 to £3.99 for sis and OH's great-niece, some little Xmas cards just to give out to some of the girls in work, bottle bags, and money wallets. Plus a new baby boy card from card shop. Also I'm afraid I bumped into my friend whilst out and went for a quick coffee!

I did some more of the Christmas project cleaning and got the slow cooker out for an airing and have made chicken casserole for tonight. DD is staying as she has an early meeting in London tomorrow so will be lovely to see her again. Have made my lunch for tomorrow so going to watch some TV till she arrives.

Have managed 3 NSDs this week. Will carry on with Civilian next week.

    Have a relaxing night everyone.
