Your mince etc have been twice through the "danger zone" where bacteria can multiply but did you know that if you heat your food until it is steaming hot 99.9pc of all bacteria is killed. Your lasagne if refridgerated today can be cooked tomorrow.0

But the toxins that the bacteria have released into the food will still be there.
In this case, I can't see any problem with reheating the lasagne - I'm sure it's quite common to do this. It's always best to cool food down quickly if it's going to be reheated.0 -

Oh and for future - I was taught to put lasagne in the fridge for a day (before actually cooking it in the oven) to allow it all to soak in and release flavour, then put it in the oven. I've found this really convenient too, I will make a spag bol for tea but use double ingredients and make a lasagne with the extra - leave it in the fridge overnight and tea is really easy the next day.
Hope that makes sense.0 -
Mine often gets reheated several times (I make the bol sauce and we eat some and freeze the rest, then defrost some and reheat for more bol, then use whatever's left from that for lasagne/cannelloni) and while I suppose there is a risk there, it's never made us ill.I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

Quick food-related question: I cooked a shepherd's pie (lamb and sweet potato mash) for dinner on Friday with fresh ingredients all purchased that day. I was planning to have the leftovers for lunch today but do you think 5 days is pushing it a bit? I only have a microwave, I was planning to mash it up and heat it till it was piping hot. It'll be a shame to waste it but i don't want to end up ill!
Any advice much appreciated...

I would eat it. I have eaten older.
Just do as you say and heat it piping hot.0 -
5 days for cooked meat is my standard rule and will extend longer if it looks/smells fine and has been stored ok - and tonight we're having left over roast pork from saturday:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20170

If it's not furry... :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

If my oh tried to serve me with a five day old meal with meat in it , it would get wrapped round his neck.
Even the thought of it makes me ill but that's just me.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
