How you define an uncooked lentil? :o

Just made some moussaka and the recipe has lentils in it, they simmered in the sauce for 20 mins, then i reheated them, then grilled the whole thing. The lentils are still a teeny bit hard - they still have shape and texture...but i've only ever blitzed them in soup....do they sound cooked? am i going to poison myself?

My dinner tastes yummy and i don't want to stop eating it.....

  • What kind of lentils are they?

  • are they old? the older pulses become, the more effort it takes to cook them.... they should have cooked down by now..... i don't know why they haven't... they shouldn't be poisonous!
  • You will be fine, sometimes i leave them like that, they might just be a bit old. X

  • The main problem with Iceland frozen cheesecakes is after a few hours the base goes soggy and the topping can start to disintegrate. it still tastes the same but the texture is wrong.
There's very little (if any ) chance of nasties unless you have stored it badly.
The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.

Oh yeah we'd eat it. I am convinced they only put the dates/advice on to frighten me into throwing it away and buying another. I'm casual about sell by/best before/use by dates, and no-ones ever been ill.

I bought mature cheddar with a use by date of 5 days.... It sits around maturing for 3 straight years and then it's going to go off the second I unpack it in my kitchen? I don't think so.
