  • Morning all,

Another NSD yesterday which I didn't expect as I was hoping to get some Xmas shopping done however I will nip out and do that today, so no NSD today.

Also I need to post somethings I sold on ebay so since I'll have to pay the postage then tomorrow won't be a NSD either, however that is offset with the money coming in from the sales.
  • Thrifty - I feel your pain. So sorry that dh hasn't had his lbm - I hope that he does soon. I completely understand the frustration there.
I also want to that Mothernerd for the October challenge. It's been a very tough month for me but I feel as though I'm ending the month in a better place than I started it - being grateful for the things I have.
Today won't be a nsd - it's the last day of half term so I'm going to get all of the annoying little jobs done that I've been putting off for months.

The window cleaner went into the ambulance on his own feet, think he had a seizure. Luckily he wasn't up the top of the ladder! His colleagues were really shook up but kept on doing the windows for the rest of the neighbours.

Disappointed my friend cant meet for a catch up today as I will have to crack on with the decorating and housework ;)

Food shop has been done this morning but cant see another NSD happening this weekend as have to pay postage tomorrow and buy tickets for a couple of rugby events at DS club on Sunday. There may also be a carpet to be purchased for DS room as seen a really good deal from a local shop.

We have a PT session tonight too.

We have spent the last of the money I set aside for half term today. We were all going to the cinema but there were no sets of 4 seats available so the kids went to see the film on their own. Before that we had lunch at Frankie & Benny's.

Whilst the kids were in the cinema me and DH wandered around the shops, I got DD some PJ's for her birthday, two LED light bulbs and some chocolate. Both me and DH resisted buying boot socks in TK Maxx, they were Jeep ones and we are Jeep owners (we love our car) but we have loads of lovely socks so it would have been silly really, I also carried around some lovely candles for a while but put them back too.

I've had a good day of bumbling about really. My achievements (lol)

    1. Mr went into the loft a day ago to put some bits up there and brought down all the 12 to 18 month clothing and toys. There was tonnes!! Although Miss is a lady in training obviously (not much sign of that when she's trying to jab her fingers into my eyes, nose and mouth) she can still wear a lot of DSs old things. I've realised that sentence makes it sound like DH didn't come out of the loft yet but don't worry he did...Pleased for the lovely 'free' clothing and toys, not pleased for the enormo washing pile it generated. I have been washing constantly since then to get everything through the machine and line dried. I am pleased to say I haven't given in to the tumble drier despite the sheer volume of work in just hanging it all out and bringing it back in each day, moving wet things and drying things around in rotation.

    2. After a quiet stint on the roadkill front I found 4p today.

    3. Mr and DS wanted to go swimming. I remembered that last time we went I couldn't swim with DD as the little pool was closed and the big pool too cold and busy. So they refunded me but for both OH and I. So today both of them swam for free.

    4. I had 150 in Mr S points coupons. One was for 50 points for a bag of leaves which I would have bought anyway the other for 100 points if you spent over £5.25 on coffee. So I bought 2 250g bags of decent organic coffee which will see us out for a couple of months. It was also enough to push me into the next nectar reward level too.

    5. The client today actually paid me

    6. Cycled to the quick errand I had to do and back (60 mins good exercise)

    7. Used up lots of bits from yesterday in meals today. It always makes me laugh when people take a dim view of leftovers. Things like cooked chips, cooked pasta, chopped herbs. Cold bacon. What do those people think their ding cuisine contains? None of that is freshly cooked is it.

    8. We walked to and from the swimming pool so no cost for the bus. Me and DD mooched about whilst the others swam.

    9. Have managed to assimilate most of the loft toys into the front room already. So things are less messy. Need to clear the early baby toys out of the travel cot so there is more room.

    10. Still haven't put the heating on at home yet. It's just not needed and with our back door open all day as DS likes to go on the trampoline several times an hour! I'd be paying to heat the sky

And tonight I will be watching more of American Horror on Netflix, so thats our wild night planned.

It's the small things that keep me happy

DS and I had a lovely autumnal work this morning trying to catch falling leaves. Ds had his usual swimming lesson and I have also managed a NSD.

We did have a bit of drama this lunchtime when one of the window cleaners fell off his ladder in our garden and I had to call an ambulance!

The walk sounds nicer than the poor window cleaner bit. Glad he was ok.

Spend day yesterday as planned. Got everything on my list, apart from yellow wool that has to be ordered from the warehouse.
Spend day today too, had to pay my Uncle our holiday deposit for our regular June family meetup.

I attempted the pumpkin pie, I ended up with mix left so made mini pumpkin tarts too. While they tasted very nice and the cinnamon worked well, I was a bit disappointed as the pumpkin didn't actually taste of anything! I was expecting a sweet potato taste but the pumpkin was bland. Maybe it's just really subtle flavour, or maybe I had a bland pumpkin?
They went down well with BF's workmates (he took a selection in today) but everyone agrees the pumpkin is a bit of a 'meh' flavour.

We put the heating on for the first time this morning. Getting up early for work we like to program the heat for just 30 mins before we wake to take the chill out the air.
I ended up getting up at 2 am thursday to get myself a hot water bottle cos I was freezing, even with BF kicking out body heat like a radiator

Bob - I live in Yorkshire and it's chilly in the mornings but otherwise you can get away with just a jacket or jumper at the moment. We are really being eased into winter.

Whilst I was waiting for the coffee to brew and the porridge to thicken this morning I decided to have a look through all the things pegged to my fridge and was horrified to find a form for a scouts camp that needs paying on Monday for £25 which I hadn't budgeted for. I am already paying £9 for the scouts Christmas outing to a trampoline park but I had budgeted for that.

Hopefully we won't be spending today. Me and DH will be cycling this morning then we will all be going out for a walk this afternoon with the dog.

Whilst on the subject of the dog some of you may remember he was at the vet last month with a patch of weeping eczema, it cost £75 ish and cleared up quite well and his fur has just grown back. To our horror we found another patch on his leg a couple of days ago, we still had some antibac wipes and cream from his last visit and it is drying up but according to info online once this starts it is very likely to reoccur.
