Finished the boring sewing at around 8.30 am this morning (worked through the night). Had a bath and ate breakfast. Decided I needed more curtain rings so made a list of random bits and bobs and went shopping. Will keep going until I crash - tried to have a nap but nothing happening. Feel tired but okay but may not check in later - when I do sleep it will be for a long time.
Meanwhile just ticking off chores - if I get most things done today, I can have fun tomorrow (lots of crafting to finish/ prepare to next stage before Wednesday.
Thank you turtles for participating, for keeping going and for supporting one another when things get rough. Had a great month - thanks for running the thread mothernerd!!
See you all in November.0 -
Still awake but very tired.
Winter curtains are up in the front room, window and floor cleaned, meters read, chair, couch and small table arranged and phone and modem on the small table. Just the smaller couch to move then DS3 can bring the single bed back downstairs (does double duty as a couch) and then rearrange his room with the extra space.
I have shopped, done washing (some dried), collected rubbish and flattened pizza boxes, scrubbed the bath and paid a bill. Had an e-mail from my energy company about the warm homes iniatiative. usually getting WTC isn't enough, you have to fulfill further criteria. Checked through the list and my medical exemption certificate now counts so have applied. It will be £140 off my yearly bill (nearly 3 months usage for me) so would be very welcome if I get it.
DS3 was supposed to put up the curtains and read the meters but I managed so I have told him he is organising food for tonight. I was very pleased that I manged to kneel on the floor and then bend even lower to read the meters - it's over 3 years since I could last do that at this house (they are in the corners facing away from the window so it's difficult to get enough light).
Today I am grateful for finishing a tedious but necessary task, for finding the things I needed at a good price ( have enough cleaning materials but was out of any kind of scubbing scouring pads) and for spotting a 50p bargain in a charity shop which simplifies one of my craft projects. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
So did I manage all my goals for October?
Budgets – these have been categorised in YNAB as well; i.e Birthdays/Gifts, etc. One new item has been categorised which is the newspaper I buy every working day. It used to just come out of spends category but as it’s something purchased regularly it has its own place now and won’t be included as a “spend”! (Ended up buying MSE subscription!)
• Extra Cash – will have a think on this one! (Quidco rebate on insurance renewal?)
• Learn something new – will try some new recipes – also have some online tests I have to complete in work to generate my “Continuous Professional Development!” (what a mouthful!). (tried a couple of recipes and manage to complete a couple of online exams!)
• Food – will aim for at least a small surplus at end of month! (£2.86 surplus!)
• Eating out/coffees/takeaways etc – have not got much on socially this month but can envisage meeting friends a couple of times for coffee. (Yep - meet a few friends for coffee!)
• Packed lunches will be taken to work. Also have concert at end of month (ticket already paid for) so maybe a drink at theatre? (a couple of lunches out I’m afraid and drinks at the concert)
• Travel –don’t have car and commute on public transport for work. Only other outlay could be taxis but I will only take these from station if I am very late home from work or have heavy shopping. (Spot on with this as no taxis taken!)
• Healthy eating – after shock on scales this morning post-holiday I will be back on 5:2 diet as from tomorrow and will be upping fruit and veg intake! (healthy diet went a bit downhill as caught lurgy so wasn't eating much at all for a while!)
• Food bank – none nearby but there is always something going on in work charity wise that I will contribute to. (made several charity donations)
• Exercise – I walk to and from station during work week – 15 mins there and slightly more back as have to climb big hill! Also ten minute walk there and back at other end to get to office. Will do something weekends. (lurgy put paid to extra exercise (coughing!”) but I kept up with the work walks!)
So including today I ended up with 11 NSDs out of my target of 12. So must try harder for NOvember ! Thanks again mothernerd and look forward to seeing everyone on the next thread! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thank you for a great challenge mothernerd. I achieved 16 SFDs
and was within all budgets. November is already looking like a right off as spent on shoes (although don't have to pay until December) and gave £20 charity donation to some of my students who are providing for the homeless over Christmas
See you on the other side!
