Afternoon all,
Just popping in to celebrate a little (hope that's ok?) the MOT and service were £170 less than I budgeted for!!!! So I have sent that to the debt and now I owe less than £1000 (£922.99 to be precise). I think this is the first time in 12 years that I have owed less than £1000 :j :j :j :j
I can't wait to be free of this debt (although I am taking on more debt next month when the roof gets done but at least that's not stupid spending!)LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Fmess big congratulations on being under £1000 of debt left.
Thrifty Thank you so much. Looking forward to it, I think.
My ex not so dear H once asked me what 'we' had bought the boys for Christmas - on Christmas Eve when I was getting out the stockings.
Glad you like the challenge, it's boring but necessary and if it prevents or lessens the impact of an accident, it's worth it.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi All
Thrifty - Go for it running November. You seem very on it at the moment so it makes sense. I have had some of my best months progress wise whilst hosting as it makes you feel extra accountable.
For my own goals whilst I now can't see me hitting the full target of debt freedom, I would like to hit £700 by xmas because that would be a round £2,000 paid off this year.
It doesn't sound like a lot but I haven't earned a lot this year either. Plus I have wrapped up one business and started another. I will go into 2017 in a MUCH better place than I did 2016.
Night all

Thanks Bobarella, hopefully third (fourth?) time lucky. My last two times as host didnt go well but this time I'm super determined. I reread some of that original thread which was also my first taking part and i want to get that feeling back of being in control of my finances and hopefully make OH see the light tooDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Excellent idea for November thread, I am glad there are others wanting to have a super frugal November too
I like the 2 options for each week as I know there will be some weeks where I will want to do hard core and some weeks when I know I will struggle to achieve it.
DH and I earn about the same although mine is more on a monthly basis but gets quarterly bonuses. It all goes into the 1 account which I manage. His spending this month was unusually high, he does ask before he spends but I also have trouble saying no.
I had a NSD yesterday but tonight we have spent £8.20 on a chippy tea. DS and I have been visiting and got stuck in traffic on the way home and got back later than expected. My arms are also killing after the PT session last night, even using the gear stick hurt, and I couldn't face making the pasta sauce to go with the meatballs
We will have this tomorrow instead as our only trip out tomorrow is to walk the dog and visit the dentist. I will also finish the stock list and batch cook some chilli and another dish in preparation for my November cut back as I never got around to it yesterday.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Hi turtles!
We are back from holiday and proud to say that, despite taking an emergency credit card with us, we stuck to spending only cash and have even come home with 20 euros spare. Had an amazing time, spa treatments and free bubbly for my birthday, but back to reality now!
As for the mini challenge, my car has just had its annual service. I also made the decision to pay for a service plan. It's cost me £600, but covers 3 services which paid for seperately would have cost £1000, so it's worth it in the long run.
Having a nightmare with my car though after it was damaged in a car park a few weeks ago. The woman eventually agreed to pay for the damage, but it has come back from the workshop in a worse condition than it went in. It was all arranged through the main dealer (to keep the warrantee) so I never imagined it could come back in such a state! So I'm currently driving a courtesy car whilst I wait for them to put it right. I'm devastated!
Back on a mission to smash the rest of our debt now. Starting by acknowledging how much we had put back onto the cc over the last few months and putting it in my signature. I have on ongoing dispute with BT atm and waiting to speak to the senior complaints team tomorrow. I know they are offering me £20 account credit as a goodwill gesture, and am hoping they will finally pay the cashback I should have got when taking out the package. That will be a nice start to paying off the cc!0 -
Thank you all for your good wishes on the new member of my family!
I'm up for the "Civilian" November NSD. I know I have a few things coming up in November so the boot camp version may be a bit much for me! Thank you thrifty for offering to host.
I had a NSD yesterday, but today I had to buy a new lipstick - had a 20% off coupon so only cost £8 instead of my usual more expensive £15.50 version! Also bought a British Legion Poppy brooch for £15. It's for a good cause and I'm always losing my paper poppies!

I will report back tomorrow with today's spends as we are catching a train to London this morning (a big deal when you live in Yorkshire) and won't get home till late.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I'm definitely up for trying the military version of November - don't really feel particularly motivated at the moment and lots of little spends have been creeping in so could really do with a kick up the !!!! especially with Christmas coming up. Thanks thrifty.
I'm now up to 12 NSDsso will hopefully make the target of 15. I tried a new gym class on Monday called fat burn :rotfl: however, since I've put on half a stone in the last month or so it's much needed. Also went to usual kettlebells class yesterday so very achy today.
