Hi Lilac_lady
I totally agree with you and only mentioned to my OH today that they were expensive.
I think Bacon is pricey too. I remember when i was young bacon and egg were eaten alot as they were 'cheap' food - not any more.:oSealed Pot Challenge #6010 -
The cost of animal feed has risen sharply because of poor crops this past year (not just crops in Britain, but world wide).
When animal feed prices rise, so too does all animal products; meat, eggs, milk, butter, cream etc.
That is why we are noticing the increase in our shopping receipts.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I noticed in the supermarket the other day there were a LOT of eggs on the reduced counter. I didn't need any, but text my friend to let her know so she could buy up a load and freeze them while they were still at a good price.
Might be worth considering when you see them reduced (they usually still have a week on the date before needing to be used up)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Can you freeze eggs? I've never heard of that. Good tip if you can freeze raw eggs." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

My friend buys hers from the local market. She says they're much nicer and cheaper than any she's bought from supermarkets (she often gets double-yolkers too!
I'd do the same but I don't live near enough and don't go into town on a saturday - ever. (saturday being the only day they have eggs):wave:0 -
This was a thread on freezing eggs last week and there have been lots of others. But the answer is yes.0

was shopping at Asdas today. Got 18 free range eggs for £2. Special offer. They are different sizes. Not sure if it is just Asda in Northampton.
Am seriously thinking about digging up half of my garden to grow veg and getting some chickens. The rate at which food prices are going up is huge.(and it's the basics as well, not luxury stuff you can choose to pay for!)0 -
i always bu morrisons free range egss 18 for £2.29 , but i notice the price have slowly gone up and they are now £2.990

I noticed that the price of Morrisons bakery produced six large bread rolls have increased to 89p, when they used to be something like 59p since the last few weeks I bought a pack - a 34% rise! I just there and then refused to purchase them and instead opted for the large rolls made off-site for 65p, though I don't think they are as nice.
I did also notice that a loaf of Kingsmill bread is 10p dearer at Morrisons than what I paid at a corner shop next to where I work (and they're known for high prices!), I wonder if it is worth me getting a receipt from the shop and letting Morrisons know?0
