    Hi Weekend Money Savers,
A few money saving things to impart:
*1st grocery shop of October's budget came in under our weekly target amount....despite calling in Waitrose for the few things we couldn't get at Aldi.
*YS beef shank bought for £5. Marked down from £9. Perfect joint for slow cooker. Frozen for next weekend.
*Free coffees & newspaper (Waitrose loyalty card).
*Picked 2 courgettes, a few more blackberries, a few windfall pears & mr f dug another basket of potatoes.
*Free fitness tackling massive overgrown buddleja on front drive while mr f displayed his caveman strength digging a huge viburnum bush out. Filled its space with a shrub which had outgrown its pot instead of having a tempting spendy little walk to the garden centre.
*Perused Superdrug's little mag which is free to loyalty card holders. Includes whole page of vouchers for extra points. Most have minimum spend but two are not.....being 'double points' & 'triple points' so cut those out to go in my purse.
*Start 2nd half of Mum's stole. I've cast it on but that is all. I need to knit the lace panel & then it's speedy stocking stitch. Have also started a pair of socks for mr f (fabby self-patterning yarn in blues, green, purples) but as they are a gift, I can only knit them when he's out.
*Sold another ebay item last night....that's 6 pieces of clutter sold in a week. Mr f has been inspired by this & is currently listing a pile of his stuff (while moaning every 2 mins about how long it takes!)
*1st day I've felt chilly so off to find a cardi now as have zero intention of putting any heating on just yet.
    Enjoy the weekend all,
    F xx

DNMS - Great apple haul! We're inundated with them here. Did you know you can make brown sauce with apples? We've earmarked next weekend for this job, something we always do together with some good sounds playing.

Afternoon all! I'm still debt free (yay!) but today the 1st of October I'm looking to start keeping a tighter rein on my finances, especially as our little man is due next month! Ahhh, that has come round so quickly! So I'm looking to be frugal in my daily life and things like food shopping etc My list for today comprises of:
    - Get back into surveys - Nectar canvass, Swagbucks
    - Check out new survey sites that may of come up since last December when I took my foot off the pedal!
    - Fill up the car - Done! £34.01 (Damn that 1p!)
    - Write up a shopping list for the food shop tomorrow and look for a few coupons!

I think that will keep me busy for this evening! I hope everyone is OK and I promise I'll check back in here as often as I can! :)

  • ha legomum that made me laugh! Does everyone else struggle to get their oh's on board with frugality??? Oh would have definitely put the heating on a couple of weeks ago... I think I'm going to have to turn off the heating function on the boiler until Nov :p Also I find it hard to get him to eat what needs eating rather than what he fancies. Suggested to him he needs to be eating apples over the next week and I can see this is another battle that's not worth the effort! Apples for me and madam then....

foxgloves I do know as I remember you making it last year! I do like brown sauce but am funny with sauces and only eat them on certain things - brown with beans on toast, ketchup with burgers or hotdogs and that's all! Saw someone else on the allotment thread who is making cider vinegar and as I LOVE vinegar I thought I would do that as it seems simple enough :T

La E your comment about being happy dh is out made me chuckle! :rotfl:

katy wow soon your life will change in ways you can't even imagine now! x

Having a little one brings so much joy, relax, take it easy and enjoy it. Especially the first month, give up any hope of having your old life and just relax and bond with the baby, sleep when you can!

The other day I had a day off of work when madam was at the childminder. It was the first day since starting work at the end of August that I haven't had her when I've been off. It was wonderful, just to do the things I enjoy for me, the things that all add up to make me the person I am. It made me realise how good I had it before she moved in with us, in a way I wasn't aware of and couldn't appreciate. Made me realise how important it is to make time for myself and do those things regularly. It's easy when you have a little one/child to forget about your own needs x

Like your comment about Mr Foxglove my OH is the same he advertised on Facebook the other day. I told him he needed to bump his posts now and again and he said he couldn't be bothered! I'm a bit like DawnW he also doesn't like the porridge oats, so I used some of that for breakfast this morning. He reckons they taste different to the usual brand!

    - getting really annoyed with Facebook sales at the mo, one person given back word, one is not responding even though I said I would drop off and another has asked me to post. Thankfully I did have one successful collection last night.
    - still feeling down, ended up getting a take away, but had leftovers for lunch
    - returned 3 small things to the shops today
    - dropped off another Facebook sale at a shop today whilst out.
    - 1 ipoll survey, hope to cash out before Christmas
    - bought my sis a reduced price book and a cheap but snuggly blanket for her birthday
    - bumped Facebook posts
    - put some new eBay listings on
    - checked MR apps
    - parked for free in town
    - filled up on fuel and got morrisons points. Cheapest fuel in town according to petrol prices app
    - small latte in Costa and smoothie (cartons cheaper than bottles) for DD, used gift card (10% off uploads with work site) and collected points. Got points put on from wombled receipts.
    - Entered a competition to go to New York - it's on my bucket list so fingers crossed x

Think that's it for me today.

    Morning all :hello:

DH kindly let me have a lie in this morning but woke up with a thick head only to realise he'd put the heating on  it was actually off by the time I was up but the heat was still there! Was going to make some biscuits this morning only to realise I've not got any sugar as I've delayed shopping. May pop out shortly and get this. I'll also:
    Have washing outside
Meals from stores, chicken risotto for tea, toasties for lunch
Make packed lunch for DD for tomorrow
    School bags ready
    List 5 things in fleabay
Do some prep in lounge ready fir skirting board being fitted (take up old gripper rod and Hoover edges) but leave as much carpet as we can as it'll be a few weeks until we get new
Make a decision about curtains once and for all, I appear to have been procrastinating for too long ;)

    Enjoy your Sunday.
