Certainly have, it's my article! ;-) - have a look on here though (probably the recipes thread) - Caterina I think won one of Martin's challenges with a pizza recipe and she included instructions for a topping too. Mine is good (and easy) but I expect Caterina's is also more authentic!
PS if you have a fancy for bugs tortillas some of the people on Downsizer have been trying to goad one another in to harvesting snails...
The non-insect filled tortillas are very good and easy on their own though. Take you 5 minutes max to prepare...not sure how long to roll and fry but not long...and cost what? 20p? Much less? for ingredients.0 -

Well ... I currently have in stock two varieties of crickets, locusts, mealworms, wax worms and hissing cockroaches ... so take your pick :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Left Over Tortillas(possibly the wrong place to post..feel free to move!)
As we purchase pkts of tortillas and consume 12-16 in a sitting(their are four of us) I often found I was left with around 4 (which if not used would go hard),some salsa in the jar and some sour cream all of which used to go to waste.
Now however,as a light lunch or snack,I put some salsa,a chopped up spring onion and grated cheese on a tortilla and fold over. I then gently heat it in a frying pan turning occasionally, so the cheese melts and the pancake goes crispy. Remove from heat, cut into quarters(halves if your a piggy like me) and serve with sour cream.
Just lush!:j0 -
You've just made a Quesedilla! Quite possibly my favourite snack ever! I use two tortillas (maybe I'm greedy!) fill with cheese, chiili (chopped up and kept in the freezer, very good time and moneysaver - I also do this with herbs too) tomato, onion and some coriander, out in the microwave for 60 seconds - yum!0

Here's my fajhita recipe. First make the marinade
2 small bottle's of beer, pour one in a bowl and the other down your throat.
Add to the bowl 1 teaspoon of vinegar, half teaspoon oregano, quarter of a teaspoon of chilli powder, ground cumin and salt and a splodge of runny honey. Pour a quarter of this into a jug for use later.
Marinade 4 chicken breasts in the remaining liquid in the fridge for at least 2 hrs.
Use the jug of marinade to fry off with the onions, peppers
Either chargrill, fry or grill the chicken and serve with a nice salsa and loads of sour cream. And that makes me feel hungry.0 -
I've made enchilladas with leftover chilli stuffed in tortillas, cheese sauce poured over the top & just bunged them in the oven.
I made my own fajhita seasoning once, only problem is I don't really do recipes it contained garlic salt, paprika, chilli powder, cayenne & probably some other things. I just kept tasting as I went along.
ALDI do fahjita kits for £1.50 which include the tortillas, spice mix & salsa-not bad if you really can't be bothered. I picked up a few packets in Poundland a little while ago, only problem is they change their stock constantly.0
