Hi surfcat,
We have an older thread with some good recipes for fajita seasoning so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

I'm not so sure this works out especially cheap but it tastes amazing compared to any store-bought stuff. I refined it through trial and error and it always goes down well (sorry its all in caps)
FOR MARINADE:
1 SHOT TEQUILA (not cheap stuff!)
1 LIME
2 TBSP OLIVE OIL
3 CLOVES GARLIC
1 RED CHILLI
HALF BUNCH CORIANDER
1 AND HALF TSP GROUND CUMIN
HALF TSP OREGANO
HALF TSP PAPRIKA
4 CHICKEN BREASTS
2 TSP SOY SAUCE
HALF INCH GRATED ROOT GINGER
2 TSP BROWN SUGAR
TO ASSEMBLE:
6 FLOUR TORTILLAS
1 ONION, 1 RED PEPPER AND 1 GREEN PEPPER
CAJUN SEASONING
SOURED CREAM
SALSA
HALF PACK OF CHERRY TOMATOES CHOPPED FINELY
HALF RED CHILLI
HALF BUNCH CORIANDER
6 SPRING ONIONS
JUICE OF 1 LIME
CUT CHICKEN INTO STRIPS AND PUT IN MARINADE INGREDIENTS OVERNIGHT, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY.
MAKE THE SALSA BY COMBINING ALL FINELY DICED INGREDIENTS WITH A FEW TOMATOES THAT HAVE BEEN BLENDED TO A PASTE.
STIR-FRY OR GRIDDLE THE ONIONS AND PEPPERS IN A LITTLE OIL AND THE SEASONING AND DO SAME TO CHICKEN.
ASSEMBLE EACH OF THE COMPONENTS, TOPPING WITH SOURED CREAM AND SALSA.0 -
I use the Schwartz fajita seasoning. It's about £1.30 for the jar, so it's cheaper than the sachets plus does 3-4 meals for me and dbf. I like it because it saves me buying all the different spices to do it myself. Annoyingly, you can't refills for the jar nor do any of the supermarkets seem to do their own version of it, so it's Schwartz or nothing!
New flat, new budget, new commitment to MSE!

i've been using tesco own seasoning packet. it's with the herbs and spices, not with the el paso/discovery fajita stuff. it's only 39p but i think i'll give the above spice combinations a go as they're even cheaper!0

Hello, does anyone have a good recipe for fajita sauce please? I have a real craving for some chicken fajita's and haven't had them in ages. I used to love the old el paso jar of sauce that you could buy but I can't seem to get it anymore. They seem to only be selling the smoky bbq one these days which I can't stand. I'd love to try making the sauce myself but haven't a clue what goes in it! Help!0

We use Discovery cajun/fajita powder mix on the chicken/steak. Then we use normal garlic dip instead of sour cream and lots of cheese
We dont make a sauce.
