mountainchrisriver wrote: »Well just a quick update from me
... got a reply to my email from Ramada Chester saying pretty much exactly the same thing as the original "you can't have a free room" reply which I posted elsewhere in this thread. i.e. no explanation of why the terms and conditions from expedia were not the same as Ramada's
this is rubbish!!
Sent yet another email requesting exact details etc... but bloke is out of office until Monday (automated email response!) Still got time on my side so will keep pursuing the issue until I get a satisfactory response
Oh forgot: also requested the contact name of a higher authority as blindman did, be interesting to see who he points me at!
Will not be staying if it is not free but they will only find that out at the last minute :T
There are only 4 regional managers then the CE.
I'd like to list the Hotels that are refusing this offer out of interest as it may be just the one regional manager who is contesting this.
So far its
Chester
Gatwick
Gloucester
any more??0 -
I've also had free stays approved for:
London Ealing
Bolton
They haven't been revoked yet, but knowing this company I won't be surprised if they get revoked the day before (or if the manager just decides to tell me when I turn up).0 -
Mine remained on £0.00 right up until I got to the hotel - at which point they went into the system and manually changed it to full price! I saw one girl explaining to the other one how to do this.
if they did that i would get them to sign to say they changed it on arrival. the judge would love it.0 -
Another thought for the members:
If they are using the cop out that the T&C's for a booking made through a third party and that the 'package' being purchased is / are different to that available through themselves, ask them to....
1) Explain what the exact differences are.
2) Give details of any 'third party' offering the exact same detail.
(this should be available in order to support their 'free room' advert)
3) Whether they consider their 'Free Room' advertising to be an 'honest'
promotion in relation to the advertising standards agency guidelines.
4) Whether they consider the changing of their T&C's AFTER the event, in
an attempt to mislead and cheat customers with a genuine claim out of
their free room, complies with appropriate and acceptable business
practices expected by the general public from such a highly respected
company.
Refer back to one of my previous posts regarding using MP's etc.
Good luck.0 -
STOP PRESS!
A new, bizarre, twist in developments.
I mentioned on here that shortly before I went to Chester I e-mailed the man at Wyndham Worldwide who had originally approved my free stay.
I told him the hotel were not honouring the free stay, and asked him to clarify where I stand.
Well, today I've just had this (too late - as I've already stayed there and paid £104):Thank you for contacting Ramada Corporate Office. I do sincerely apologize for the delay in our response to you. We have confirmed that your Best Rate Free Night will be honored by the hotel on your date of arrival.
Should any issues arise on this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Again I do apologize for the delays in the handling of this matter.

So where do we go from here?
It looks like Wyndham Worldwide and Ramada UK are seriously at loggerheads over this one. What a shambles!
To comply with with MSE rules I have blanked out the name of the guy who sent the above reply, but if anyone wants his name or contact details please PM me.0 -
Brilliant news TaxiPhil - this could have good repercussions for all of us, so thanks for following this up on behalf of all of us!
Quite obviously, the sensible route for them to go down was for them to change their free night policy (which they have done) and honour all bookings made using it prior to the change. Lets hope they do this.0 -
whohooooo i received the same email from a certain red breasted bird.
free night guaranteed0 -
Yep, me too!
Stefi's English brother did good!
How I'd love to have been a fly on the wall at some of the Wyndham / Ramada discssuions that have obviously been going on.
Just fingers crossed now that nothing else changes: 3 out of 3 confirmed at the moment.0 -
well to have the free room confirmed twice - gotta be happy days!0
