Thanks Glenn.
Once again, worth making a print out of the T&Cs before they amended them for those like me who are also pursuing claims for bookings made through ramada-jarvis.co.uk which were cheaper on ramada.com.
Here they are, thanks again to Google's cache:

Hi Folks,
I just received the following email:
Dear Sir,
You recently submitted a claim to Ramada Hotels on the Guaranteed Best Rate programme and were advised that your claim was successful.
Unfortunately on review the comparative web site that was used to make your claim was offering a different product where the room rates offered had different terms and conditions attached.
Therefore I regret that your claim is not valid.
However we continue to hold your reservation, as detailed above on a provisional basis.
If you still require this accommodation at your confirmed rate of [£79], I would be grateful if you would confirm that this accommodation is still required. If you wish to guarantee the accommodation for late arrival please could you confirm this along with you credit card details.
I do apologise for this misunderstanding and trust that we will still have the pleasure of welcoming you to our hotel.
Sincerely,
I think this is ridiculous as my booking is for tomorrow and they just notified me.
I sent the expedia comparison. Can they do this? I already received my confirmation for the complimentary room.

Wow, that's a fantastic deal
I see in the new T&C's they've added
same deposit and guarantee options
which is what they're trying to use as an excuse with Expdia.0 -
i think we have excellent grounds for small claims.0

Mine remained on £0.00 right up until I got to the hotel - at which point they went into the system and manually changed it to full price! I saw one girl explaining to the other one how to do this.0 -
Did you receive a call from the hotel, blindman? This space has been intentionally left blank0

Well just a quick update from me
... got a reply to my email from Ramada Chester saying pretty much exactly the same thing as the original "you can't have a free room" reply which I posted elsewhere in this thread. i.e. no explanation of why the terms and conditions from expedia were not the same as Ramada's
this is rubbish!!
Sent yet another email requesting exact details etc... but bloke is out of office until Monday (automated email response!) Still got time on my side so will keep pursuing the issue until I get a satisfactory response
Oh forgot: also requested the contact name of a higher authority as blindman did, be interesting to see who he points me at!
Will not be staying if it is not free but they will only find that out at the last minute :T0 -

Yes.
The manager was polite (as was I) but very flaky in his excuse (see my previous posts).
I asked for a higher name to contact and he rang me back to say that
the regional manager will contact me on Monday.
The next up the chain is the Chief Exec.
I have until November 17th to persue this- and I will!
BTW I have a cancellable backup at a nearby hotel at a very low rate so not fussed if I don't get this.
It's the principle that matters.
Oh and it's fun too!0
