I've just bought an Acer Aspire 7520 Gemstone
When the Laptop is at waist height on your lap or on a table top so your looking slighty down at and angle i have a white haze /sheen across the screen on black backgrounds that looks like light bleed but it doesn't change very much if i turn down the brightness , But if i lift the laptop up to chest height so i'm looking straight into the screen 90% of the white haze / sheen can no longer be seen and the screen looks perfectly black so it seems like it's an optical effect of the way the light is polarized at angles.
does it sound like a fault or are yours 7520 the same. ?0 -
Can anybody check if the Tesco Acer Aspire 7520 Gemstone has actually got a dual core processor. In the Tesco web page under description it says "an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor" but under features it just says "Processor AMD Athlon TM 64" which I don't think is dual core.

It's a dual core cpu, it uses the AMD TK-55 which runs at 1.8 ghz per core, each core has 256k of cache totalling 512k.
I work as a server engineer and bought one of these laptops from Amazon for £399.99. Overall it's a decent machine for the money, the downside is battery life is a little poor as the TK-55 cpu is not that energy efficient, although if it's plugged into the mains when you are using it that wont matter, the screen is large and bright and is good for playing DVDs when travelling, it's good for general use, web surfing, emails, word processing etc, if you are buying it to play 3D games on you'll be dissapointed as uses the Nvidia 7000m graphics which is intergrated onto the systems motherboard, this is a lot slower than dedicated graphics as it's shared with the 1GB system memory.
A cheapish way to speed it up is to upgrade the memory to 2gb, the laptop has 1gb installed as standrard (2 x 512mb) to upgrade to 2gb you have to replace both of them with 2 x 1gb (2gb) which would cost about £60, although this should get cheaper later on. Crucial UK is a great place to buy memory and have a hassle free returns/exchange policy, support is also very good.0 -

Now £349.00 from TESCO
Catalogue number: 200-5525
This laptop has a fantastic screen, and for two reasons. The first is that it is 17 inch, this is a great screen size for a laptop, as it makes watching videos, dvds . Secondly, is that the screens quality is great too, which also features crystal bite technology, what this does is effectively make the screen so much brighter, sharper and crisper and makes every thing look so much more realistic.

This laptop is super quick, and can cope with very demanding software and games, it has a AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor

Then again, if you factor in an extra £30 memory upgrade from www.scan.co.uk or so the Acer Aspire 7520 starts to look like a much better deal. It is on sale now, in Tesco stores and online at tesco.com.

really love the design of this laptop:beer:0
