Several DVLA letters were redirected to me when I moved and VED reminders arrived before they'd processed my change of address requests.

The only post which is not redirected is clearly marked DO NOT REDIRECT.

The only examples I can think of are items relating to that specific address, e.g. council tax or electoral roll. I can't think of any conceivable reason why DVLA wouldn't want their mail get to the intended individual.

You're not getting it - all the court would be interested in is was the vehicle taxed, yes or no. All these excuses are irrelevant and you should be grateful you weren't pinged more often than you were because every single occasion you went out in that car you were comitting an offence. You may perceive it as unfair but that is no defence.

From the Royal Mails website -

- any mail where laws prohibit us to redirect mail. For example we may be instructed by law to notify the authorities of Redirection requests for mail relating to government benefits.

In the past I have received the typical brown government envelope and it's been stamped 'do not rediect', can't remember what it was.
