Hi Nastyslug,
If they have already raised a case against you and passed judgement the only thing I could advise is requesting either through them, CAB or the court to set an IVA which wouldn't financially penalise you any further. As the case has already been processed by the court it would cost you to appeal and the judge would only suggested an IVA.
Speak to the DVLA and attempt to settle the bill through them rather than the bailiffs otherwise you will end up paying their fees too.0 -
Seriously telling people to set up a calendar is not useful. There are a million ways to remember something but none of it will help him. If you can't help with the problem at hand don't bother posting.
The huge fine will probably mean he never forgets again anyway.
If you only ever try and solve the effects of a problem you will keep doing it over and over again. If you solve the root cause of a problem you won't need to deal with it ever again!.
I don't even know who this comment is actually aimed at!. If it's me then you should
You have posted three times on this thread, once suggesting he wastes the MP's time and twice telling other people they are not being useful. Which is ironic considering you have made 3 useless posts in total!.
If you read my post again I have some very useful advice about a SAR request and some logical justification of the amount of the fine. What did your post contribute?0 -
Direct from the government website. I don't think you'll have much luck OP. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/403028/Vehicle_Enforcement_Policy__revised_.pdf
I cant help you reduce the fine only clarify that they put the emphasis firmly on the driver and that's why they want paying.
What are the vehicle tax requirements?

**It is the responsibility of the vehicle keeper to ensure that their vehicle is properly taxed.** The vehicle keeper must:
make sure the duty is paid; or
make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) if the vehicle is kept off the public road.
To help vehicle keepers to tax their vehicles on time, DVLA issue a V11 or a V85/1 Renewal Reminder to the keeper recorded on the DVLA vehicle register (i.e. the registered keeper) about 3 weeks before the renewal date. The V11 or V85/1 reminds keepers that the vehicle tax is due to expire and provides advice on how to tax or notify SORN. **The non-receipt of the reminder is not considered a justifiable reason for failing to tax the vehicle or make a SORN declaration.**

What is in the small print for your car insurance about taxing your car? I think you might be luckier than you think that you weren't in an accident if there was a clause making your insurance void.
I don't know about how the fines work I'm afraid, could you ask for some sort of payment plan? Or what is your credit like could you get a 0% card to give you longer to pay it off.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000
MFiT-T4 - #46 £0/£45k to reduce mortgage total

The 2 court cases were voided. At the moment everything is back with the DVLA oweing them the 4 remaining fines. On the DVLA letter they last sent me they say they "don't accept installments".0 -
Hi Nastyslug,
If the case has gone to court and judgement has been passed then you can complete a form N245 for the court which will request that you pay by installments no matter DVLA policy. Obviously the judge might determine that your current financial situation might enable you to pay the full amount however most are understanding. The best advice I can give is make sure the payments are at least the equivalent of the total debt/10 as then the judge would be happy the debt would be settled within a year.
Sorry just reread your post, if there are no court cases then ask the DVLA for their payment details and reference and make installment payments anyway. If it goes to court it shows that you at trying to pay the debt and it is the DVLA whom aren't being accommodating.0 -
Hi, so does anyone know what the actual/average penalty is for not informing of address/updating the V5C?
Does anyone on here think I should approach the court with this reasoning:
That because I failed to update my V5C/Address, there would of been no reasonable way I could take action for my mistakes & pay & resolve the matter before the other fines were captured. Therefore I should be liable for not updating the V5C & for also not taxing the car. (That I committed 2 offences but not 5 as the DVLA are alleging. -Multiple compounding fines that I could not take action upon)0 -

Thanks again Adrian C for completely ignoring what I've written, but if you want to go hang out with the other trolls, you can visit YouTube.com0
